oak 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2013 I have a Bauer 4500 helmet. I wore the 4000 my whole life and love how it looks, so when it came time for a new helmet I went for the 4500, because it seemed like a new and improved 4000.However, I was disappointed that the foam hadn't been upgraded to the technology used in other helmets (even old models like the gel/foam in the old 5000s). My 4500 foam is getting very inelastic and uncomfortable.Has anyone ever attempted to strip foam and insert different types, or modify helmet foam in other ways? Please let me know! bigdmac 12 Report post Posted November 14, 2013 Maybe try on other helmets where you won't have to rip apart the foam on the inside. I wouldn't recommend going with a helmet just because of the looks, then gut it to add your own foam; it will also void the warranty that comes with the helmet. However; if that's your goal then I have seen it done, but usually done by people who have a tough time fitting into any helmet. Maybe one of them can chime in a little bit.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted November 14, 2013 I'm sorry but replacing or modifying the foam is not safe and we can't allow that information to be posted here.
