ice pants fit help.

Recommended Posts

Ok guys so once again forgive my ignorance here as this is the first time I'm doing this in years but I'm wondering how to properly fit ice pants?

Things like how low should they go, how high should they be. Should I fit them to wear them at my waist, or on my hips like with my roller pants. Also does any company have a wider fit as I'm wider but my legs may be too short for a bigger size.

Thanks, this is going to be used for friendly pick up games here and there . But I would like to get myself fitted and hopefully pick up something here on the forums soon.

It's all preference, they fit all different ways as you just described. Yes they have big and tall and short and wide models but are harder to find. Tackla is one that has them for sure. Also I know a few who use Jr if they are short and wide.

I always suggest go lower budget or used when starting out because inevitably you will end up replacing everything once you find out what you prefer.

Not the best answer but you gotta go try it on.

What I have noticed is that you really want to be in the smallest size for your body. I sit right between L and XL (6'3" 235lbs 40" waist) on most pants. When purchasing, I bought an XL and when I put them on (because I bought online) they were much too long and wide. I ended up swapping for a Large and while they fit slightly snug, I get good motion without the bottom of my pants getting behind the tops of my shin guards. Just my 2 cents...

Lupo, I'll keep that in mind . I'm 5' 7" (off skates) but I have shorter legs and a bigger frame (250lbs 50" chest) I usually go 36x30 or 38x30 on my jeans. Looking at the Bauer chart that would put me in a large so I'll start looking at those.

Anything else I should know? Like type of enclosures and everything? Or are pants pretty much pants.

If you look at some of the newer and higher end Reeboks they have a zipper around the pants to allow you to make it longer/shorter. Might be worth looking into. If you can try on pants with your shin guards. Its so annoying when your pants are slightly too short and the tops of your shins come out and stick over the pants...I've had it happen before and can't stand it.

Some pants have an inner and outer belt. Some have two outer belts. Some have one outer belt and laces. Just go with whats comfortable if you can try them on.

Truth be told, my recent history with Reebok isn't the best so I'm going to avoid that but I am.looking at at the ccm +08 pants. Seems like it has a but of the higher end features and with the 20% off sales it's a decent price. For a buck more the LE editions from hockey monkey seem to have an upgraded liner which may be nice.

I tried looking clearance but I'm not a side x-small or I would be rolling right now.

I'll keep an eye out on the sale threads here as I don't need it immediately but it will probs my be needed.
