bmess6 2 Report post Posted January 17, 2014 I have a Kane curve but am thinking of buying a new stick, but i cant decide on an another Kane or a Toews curve? I like stick handle quite a bit, but prefer to take high wrist shots, little slap shots though. Any recommendations?

chrisehyoung 14 Report post Posted January 17, 2014 I recently went from a Landeskog curve which is similar to the Toews curve to a Kane curve. I find it a minor adjustment all around. It's a little different stick handling but not too much. A little harder to get a good toe drag but still easy enough. I also need a little more oomph to go shelf from in tight due to the closed vs open toe but I still have it. Small adjustments in technique make huge differences. The biggest difference i've found is on my backhand. I have a lot more control, especially for those nice saucer passes.
thawu 5 Report post Posted January 17, 2014 I'm currently using a Toews curve but I'm just not the biggest fan of the blade size. It is actually a smaller blade than the Kane and narrower at the toe as well.

mc88 160 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 I'd recommend a more open face curve if your primary goal is wrist shots in tight quaters. The Kane curve is a good medium between slap shot, snap shot and wrist shot when outside the hash marks, but if your preference is in tight, I'd go P92 Backstrom, P91A Staal, P106 Richards/Gagne or the P14 Toews. I'd avoid the PM9 Stamkos/Malkin simply because it's a lie 5, while the others I just mentioned are lie 6 (it'll change your stance as well as your shooting technique). Which one to choose is up to your personal preference. I'd bring a smart ball (6oz weighted plastic ball) or a green biscuit along with me and try out the curves and see which one feels the best in terms of just stick handling left to right and front to back. It may also help to go with a low end stick just in case you don't like it, you didn't blow a whole bunch of cash on it.Just keep in mind that switching curves will change your technique, so expect to spend some time adjusting to the new curve. Don't expect an instant natural feeling.

MyBoxersSayJoe 133 Report post Posted February 6, 2014 After switching from using the p88 for the past few years to the p14 the past six months, I snapped the p14 the other night and used the p88 again. I feel like my stick handling is better with the p88 and that my shots have a little more oomph with the p14. I know that may sound cheesy because that's what they're marketed as, but it's how I felt having to make the switch back on the fly. Shots definitely rise with the p14 when I don't actually think about my shot and just try to get something on net. I'm mixed between the two, but I just ordered two more p14 sticks figuring I can get a p88 anytime if I choose to switch back.
