thittman34 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2014 I am a 5'7" goaltender looking to buy new pads this summer. First issue is I don't know what size my pads are as it says no where on them and I have had them for roughly 5 years. Also, I have no idea what pads to get next, if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I only play adult hockey twice a week so am not looking to spend a ton. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
m3thods 13 Report post Posted February 6, 2014 It would be in your best interest to be fitted at your LHS. I currently have old Vaughn V2 hand-me-down's which are a 34 (+1, but not posted). They fit fine (a 33+2 is probably perfect). I tried on new Warrior Rituals for fun, and was closer to a 32. If you don't have access to a LHS at all, you can try and rely on the ATK/FTK measurement database on another forurm (strictly for goalies, not sure if I'm allowed to reference here) and go from there. I think it goes without saying that you are really taking a chance by doing this and not going to a LHS. I do understand, however, that some people are in places where going to a LHS really isn't feasible, As for type of pads- you can believe marketing hype and get pads specifically for your style. But I think anything that fits for your playing frequency will work just fine.
KILLERWHALE 6 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 Nowadays you can get killer deals on old Bauer Reactor, Supreme, koho 580, Vaughn Velocity through Kijiji $100-$300 and they are more than enough for a beer leaguer/ adult rec/More value than say buying a low-mid newer pad.
