rebake skates?

Recommended Posts

I have CCM U 08s and have had them for about 2 years now and skate twice a week in beer league c level. I lace all the way to the top and the last 3 weeks the ankle has been really stiff and the laces have been digging in painfully. Should I rebake these? I dont have lace bite anywhere else.

I would say no. The boot is probably getting soft and is bearing down more into you. The only other thing I could think of is if you had an injury to that area that may have changed your ankle a little or made it swell.

I think rebaking at this point would just degrade the boot even more and you don't really need to reshape the boot as you have played in them so much for so long I'm sure it has been changing with your foot as your foot itself has changed. You can try a different lacing technique or they make lace bite pads or you can use a sling to make your own cheap to see how it feels.

I haven't had an injury or changed the way I skate. I tried going one lace down last game but I felt a little too wobley.

2 years with 2 skates a week is a good amount out of a skating. that's 208 skate sessions. You got your money's worth, I would relegate them to backup duty and/or do a cheap lace bite fix and pick up a new pair.

Just a thought. . . try throwing in some new waxed laces they're only a few bucks and they seem to keep more even pressure all the way down the skate. but they are harder to unlace.
