Using a Graf 705 boot with an inline chassis

Recommended Posts

Would it be possible to use a Graf 705 boot with an inline chassis since the 705 uses the Rapid Mounting System? Are there any inline chassis' that would line up perfectly with the 705 boot easily integrate with Graf's RMS? If a chassis exists, I would think the 705 boot would be one of the easiest boots to switch back and forth from roller to ice.

I know numerous people with this setup. I've seen tour redlines, pretty much every red star frame, from e-frames to alloys. I've also seen old generator carbons on them. So I'm pretty sure you can use just about anything. I remember Mr. Egan saying Simon had more than one pair of 7 series grafs with inline chassis, so I'm sure he could throw some insight on the subject in.

I've got 703's with a Red-Star using RMS screws for mounting as well. You will have to drill no matter what frame you use. You could possibly get two holes to line up but that's about it. And if you're mounting a medium red-star on anything near a size 8.5 the sole plate should be hanging over slightly, otherwise the frame isn't straight.

Amen....there were always some problems with the inside rms being so close to the sidewall of the boot itself in the heels that I was worried about them pulling through. I used a different grommet for those holes...with a wider flange, but with the flange ground off on one side so it engaged the sole of the boot and not the side walls.
