What's the benefit of a shorter hosel?

So, I just replaced my 15 year old Sherwood Coffey blade with a new Combat 52 cal. Upon doing so, I realized my stick was now 2" shorter.

What's the benefit in this?

Probably to promote a lower kickpoint. Whether or not that is a benefit is subjective to the player.

I haven't really determined what 'kickpoint' is in terms of how it affects MY shot.

I get the physics behind it, but this is the first time I've used a modern-ish stick

I feel it helps with balance. Keeps the weight of the blade down, & I'm sure 2" of shaft weighs less than 2" of hosel at a critical part of the stick.

I feel it hurts the balance, as it makes the blade feel too light to easily accelerate the puck for puckhandling, passing, and shooting.
