Swedish games soon on Canadian television

Recommended Posts

Canadian fans of Swedish hockey will now be able to watch some SEL games on Rogers Sportsnet, starting in late December. The deal was signed earlier in the summer and now it's been announced that broadcasts will soon begin. The first three broadcasted games (I'm sure there will be more games, these are the first ones scheduled, and they will be tape-delayed games shown on prime time) will be:

Tue 12/28 Frölunda at Linköping

Thu 12/30 Djurgården at Mora

Tue 01/04 MoDo at Luleå

All of these teams include at least some NHL players that might be familiar, and if you wanna check out the rosters to see who they are, go to this site.

They may broadcast some games from the Spangler Cup like they have been doing now for a couple a years.

pretty interesting watching SEL hockey for the first time. No centre red line, no touch icing.

The only thing that I don't like is that it seems to be more chippy than the NHL. Saw quite a bit of elbowing to the head, slashing, etc.
