What Chassis?

Recommended Posts

I have a quick question, i have never done this before but i just sold some TUUKs of a pair of Bauer Classic Golds and had the idea of converting these into Roller hockey skates, i was just wondering what chassis, wheels, and bearings is the best and cheapest way to go? Im not looking to spend a bundle on this since i only get to use them maybe 3 months out of the year.

Thanks for your Help.

For the chassis go for some Red Star E-Frame, they are really well

built (fully extruded, 7000 series aluminum, "thick" walls), and super

cheap (www.1800faceoff.com or www.hockeymonkey.com). If you

are willing to spend a little bit more, go for Mission, they're better in

my opinion :)

For wheels, buy some closeout wheels, hockeymonkey have some

gripper lites for $3.99 (was top of the line about three years ago).

www.hockeygiant.com have some Kuzak wheels for as low as $2.99,

definitely not the best wheels around, but good enough if you're an

occasional skater.

For the bearings, just buy some $20 bucks abec 3 or 5 bearings,

they will do.

If you live in California (and maybe elsewhere), try Big 5 sports.

They have a lot of $30 packs, like 8 Hyper Formula G + abec 5

bearings + spacers, or 8 Gripper (or Gripper Lites) + abec 3 or 5

bearings + spacers. Can't beat that kind of price.

If you want some Red Star E-Frames, I'm selling mine:

Very cheap, $30 with Sherwood boots.
