Skate tuning and profiling theories

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I always viewing player thread.

This is the first time I make a post or new topic on this goalie thread.

Then I'm not a goalie and also have no plan to start this position though I really think interesting!

I realized I can't when I tried to sit down with batterfry style on the floor.

I'm too stiff for goalie move

Then I'm so interested in your goalie skate settings, especially edge profiling contouring.

I want to learn about that but there is no suitable person around me.

So would you tell me your profiling theory or skate tunings?

Of course I saw some of posts on this thread separately.

I wrote my knowledge on the player thread of this forum before I made this topic.

My friend thinking to change his skates new.

And I have a simple interest about the skates.

So I want to learn about goalie skates.

I hope I can discuss about your great ideas.

Just as a point of interest... I just found out that there is a relatively new spinner offering from Blackstone being tried out that is specifically for goalies called A-Trap (a guy I play with was asking if I could do it on my X-01 and that was the first I had heard of it). I think it probably stands for asymmetrical trapezoid. The idea is that they give you a different FBV edge on the outside edge than they do on the inside edge. They give you more bite on the inside edge so that you can push from down to up and side to side easier while having an edge with less bite on the outside for better shuffling, etc.

Thank you for your information, sound A-Trap is very interesting.

Although I'm wondering whether it makes bad effect for shuffle move because you guys often sharpen your skates as high-in and low-out, or A-Trap.

I'm contouring my skates 13' radius but using BFD X8.

I feel enough bite.

I can't imagine what big bite can we get by such 30' radius and its contacting with the ice.
