Looking for a Youth Hockey helmet

Recommended Posts

Hey gang. Need some advice on what to focus on when shopping for my daughter as well as my friends son. My Daughter has a round shaped head which is wide at the temples. she tried on a Bauer helmet for Learn to play today and it was squeezing her temples something fierce. She's 8.

My friends son has a similar issue but his head shape is wider above the above and behind the ears. More like a diamond shaped face.

Just looking for things to ask for when we go shopping for equipment.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I have a round shaped head as well. I get the pinch in the temples with Bauer helmets too. The most comfortable one that I have tired on was the Reebok line. CCM was too narrow as well.

The Bauer IMS 7.0 and IMS 11.0 (formerly Cascade M11) seem to fit rounder.

I have an oval head, and the other Bauers fit me well where the IMS helmets feel roomy in the temples.

The Small has a very wide fit range.

I agree that CCM and Reebok seem to fit a little wider. Most Bauer helmets are tight (narrow) on my head, with the exception of the 5100. It fit my round head well. Of course the best thing is to have them try them on if possible.

MT.. I was thinking the same thing. The M11 or IMS 7.0 and 11.0 feel great on me. I am not sure they make a youth specific helmet though.

Roach and Hockey11. Cool will look into it and I agree have them try them on first.

My daughter wears the Cascade M11 Pro (now IMS 11.0) in small and it fits her great. She got it last year right after she turned 10 (she was about 4'-7" and 80# then).

It had a couple of smaller clicks left, so it might fit an 8 year-old. Fortunately, heads don't grow as fast as feet!

CCM and Reebok also offer their XS and S helmets in pink, if your daughter likes to stand out.
