When do I need a stiffer skate.

Recommended Posts

I've been in a pair of RBZ 60's for little over a year now and i'm thinking about moving into a stiffer skate. What are the pros/cons of a stiffer skate? Anything i can look for while im skating to tell me if i need a stiffer skate?

I noticed it when my skates started to twist under me. Ankels did not support enough in sharp turns and skates did feel wobbily....

IMHO, it's actually really simple as long as you can try out a stiffer skate. When you try a stiffer skate, and there is a noticeable difference, and it's a positive difference, then you know the jump to a stiffer skate would make sense. I remember jumping from a mid stiff skate to a very stiff skate, and I just simply noticed that there was more power/energy from my stride than from my old skate...with that I decided to move up to a stiffer boot. It's hard to describe, but you just kinda "know" if that makes any sense.
