Clear Coat peeled off

Well..I let my buddy borrow my right handed m1 to see if he wanted to buy it, and he used it and didnt like the curve. We peeled the tape off and all the clearcoat came off of the blade. Can it still be used/sold like this or is it ruined, or is there something I can put on the blade to protect it , if thats the clearcoats main function? Thank ya..
