Bauer Supreme One100 skates vs 190's

Recommended Posts

Back in 2010 I got a pair of One100 (LE's). Even with yellow Superfeet I just pass the "pencil test" across all parts of my foot. As such those skates have always fit great.

I recently got a new pair of Supreme 190's in the same size as my One100's (7D). I went through the same process baking them and putting in the yellow Superfeet right after they come out of the oven. I had my LHS bake them one at a time, which gave me ample time to put in the insole and lace up each skate. The issue I'm having is that these 190's definitely appear to have less volume. In these I fail the pencil test (even with the stock Bauer footbeds). I've skated in them several times. If I lace up the skates with even moderate tension I get a lot of pain at about the 5th eyelet from the toe cap. Eventually my foot goes numb from that part of my foot all the way to my toes.

Has anyone else had a similar observation regarding the current line of Supreme skates? I read in the 2014 Bauer catalog thread that the MX3 may have lost a bit of volume due to the injected lacing system. I was hoping to not lose any volume, which is one of the reasons I went with the 190's. At this point I'm not sure if I should sell these skates.

I have used One100's since 2010 and bought a pair of 190's in January. I found the fit to be almost identical and immediately fitted green superfeet which I had used in the One100 to alleviate specific discomfort in either foot. For me I find the change in size of the holder and ls3 blade to be more of an issue and reverted back to standard insole to get a more One100 feel when playing. I would say the fit or volume of the boot itself to be virtually identical with the only differences being padding on the inner heels which I had to spot heat and the stiffness of the tongue which was more because the older skate tongues had broken down. I really had to persevere with the 190's but they are now starting to feel right, it just took a bit longer, which was the surprise. I did use the One100's more often for 4/5 months. I still think that the One100, One.9, 190 model below the top of the range skate is the best bang for your buck.

Thank you for your input. I've been wearing them (190's) around the house (with stock insoles for now). I think that perhaps as they break in my foot will sit a tad deeper/lower into the boot thereby giving me a little bit more volume. This would be consistent with your experience. Other than the forward portion of the top of my foot (5th eyelet from the toe cap) the rest of the boot feels and fits great. I'm going to persevere as you did. Thanks Mikey1967!

My son went from One100's to 190's and his report, "same." He wears stick insoles.

Not sure that's of any help, take it for what it's worth.

Went to a public session using the stock Bauer insoles. I was careful not to tie the forefoot too tight. Happy to say that I skated completely pain free! Awesome anatomical feel that I've always loved in Supreme skates. I'm one happy camper.
