CCM ribcor skates 48k

Recommended Posts

Hi There

Has anyone had any experience with NEW 48k ribcor skates? I am in the market to replace my old skates Bauer One.9 and was looking for a high quality option that doesn't break th bank. The replacment for the One.9 is th Bauer 190 which are 699.00. Which is just too steep for how much I play. But I really don't want to downgrade too much in quality either which is why I was not really impressed with the 180 or 170. Plus I am looking for a little more comfort in my skate. And the 48k looks to be a better fit (more like vapor which I have had before) The supremes are fairly stiff. So I was wondering if the quality of the 48k would be that much of a drop off? At 399.00 seems like a good deal. Just curious if the weight difference would be that noticeable? They are roughly about 120grams different.

Another option is a discount pair of Vapor X100 for about the same price 375.00

I am having to order online and trying to do the best research as possible. I can return skates for free but want to avoid the shipping hassle . I know the easy answer is always try them on.

Thanks for any advise people may have

I have the 48K skates and really like them. I had the 18K Reeboks before. I find them to be a good deal stiffer than the Reeboks, although they're definitely nothing compared to the 50K skates which I tried. I was pretty impressed with heat moulding on these skates- really good heel lock and virtually no break-in. I think they're a really solid value and for my purposes, I couldn't justify paying the extra 300$ for the 50K in QC. The SpeedBlade Black is really high quality steel too and you get it with both the 50K and the 48K. Still getting used to the new holder but I do like the little extra height, it really does help with your edges.

I ended up in the same size in the 48Ks as the Reeboks- for what it's worth.

Thanks I'll take a closer look at the 180.

And thanks for the info on the 48k, looks like a good deal for what they offer. Still curious how drastically the weight difference will feel compared to my one.9 but not the most important factor

Not sure whereabouts you're located but if you're in Canada and close to a source for sports or equivalent you could try some of their exclusive SKU's. I got the supreme LTX Pro+'s for the same price as the 180. Same general build but with a hydramax liner and full composite outsole.

I'm not entirely sure what the one.9 spec sheet is but it might be worth while to look at if you were concerned about the 180 being a downgrade.

Right now I have Reebok 26k. Will these CCM Ribcor 48k fit similar to those?

The CCM RibCor 48K has the same foot shape and dimensions as the Reebok RibCor 26K, but is made with materials that are a little bit stiffer than the 26K, so from a fit perspective, thats the only difference you should feel.

Hope this helps!

Nice that's what I'm going for. I returned some stuff to Total Hockey and just took a gift card and when I bought something from there last week they gave me a scratch off that had a coupon for 10% off any one item. So by the time my points clear and the gift card from returning my stuff I can get these for like $100 more. I'm going to get them before the coupon expires on 12/31 and use my Reebok 26k that are still in good condition as backups!

Edit:

I'm actually between these and I want to try the jetspeed 290 or 300 on.

Picked these up Saturday and got them baked. I actually went down a 1/2 size from my Reebok to these. Used them Sunday for the pickup game, didn't take any shots off the foot so I can't say how much more protective they are yet, but they definitely feel like they lock my foot in better. Had the normal rub mark on my ankle that I get the first couple times I wear a new pair of skates. Hopefully that goes away this time to. Can't wait to get a few more games in!

I'm thinking about getting a CCM medium arch support insole and maybe a powerfoot insert for even more comfort. You guys think it's worth it?
