bigsnake76 2 Report post Posted December 30, 2015 Has anyone ever modded your skates and - doubled up a tongue (glued and sew one to the back of another)? I have a older pair of one80's (with the bauer 48oz tongue) Its broken in from the hundred or so uses still in good condition. The boot is no good anymore any reason that I could not unstitch and cut out these felt tongue's and glue this 48oz felt to the inside of the stock one95 tongue which has a very thin layer of felt? I like the nice plastic metatarsal guard the one95 tongue offers. These would then be my inline skates as i am going to convert them over. In addition also picked up a pair of one80's brand new for a steal on sale, love the fit, liner etc.The 48oz bauer tongue is not thick enough for my liking. What about buying an A&R replacement tongue (ice warehouse has it at 8mm - .31 inches) and having a shoe repairman sew it and glue it to the back side of the 48 oz bauer - 9mm thick). Then you essentially have a double felt tongue... Anyone ever attempted this? What type of glue would be best to use?
Vet88 674 Report post Posted December 30, 2015 team mate of mine did it on his inlines to counter lace bite, he used ados F2 which is a general purpose epoxy.
