fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted March 8, 2016 I remember reading some posts about converting inline skates to ice skates. The inline skates normally have very similar material when compared to their ice equivalent, and in some cases addition material (bumper pads etc) are added for more durability. Has anyone had any success with this? i'm looking at mounting my old mission Axiom T8's on a pair of Pitch 3 holders. My current setup of Bauer Pro 4.0 are mounted on some LS2 holders (size 272), and I've also skated on some Kor Shift 2s on Pitch 3 holders (size 280). I like the longer length of the blade, and feel more comfortable knowing that I can change the pitch of the blade as I prefer to have a more forward leaning stance. Has anyone had any success with doing this themselves? I will most probably be doing the conversion myself, as the LHS here didnt do a great job mounting the LS2 back onto the Bauer boots that they originally came on (holes were already there, yet had misalignment issues). Just trying to figure out an alternative solution without having to spend extra $$$. The Bauer Pro 4.0 works for me, but I keep feeling like I'm on my heels. Vet88 674 Report post Posted March 8, 2016 Can't comment on your boot choice but Justin did a conversion with Alkali boots and posted about it in the alkali thread in the roller forum.
dlwst44 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2016 I converted my ice skates to inlines, and I would highly recommend against doing this. The extra holes in the sole of the boot, cause it to be weaker than it should be. Over time, one of those spots gave out, and the whole bottom of the boot split. That was the end of them. There's so many skate options out there, there's no reason to go for a custom setup, and if you do, make sure you do it with a new boot that hasn't been drilled. Just my 2 cents.
