shoot_the_goalie 281 Report post Posted May 14, 2016 Anyone ever have their skate tongue felt deteriorate like this? Looks like I took a chunk out of it, but I think it's from wear, not from a skate cut, getting it snagged, etc. For background, these are CCM Tacks (top tier), have had them for just under 2 years (playing about 2 times a week), and I wear tongues under shins (shins overlapping on the outsides of the boot - so don't think it's contact with shins causing the issue). This is the right boot, so it's happening on the outside side of the felt (the inside side of the felt looks fine), and it's happening on the outsides of both skates (though the left boot is not as bad, but it's definitely wearing down). I can see how that part of the felt makes a lot of contact with the edge of the boot when I lean on my inside edges since my ankles press on that part of the felt/boot. I also think, but not sure, that they're wearing down faster since I switched to skipping the top eyelet when tying my laces. Anybody experience wear like this? Is it typical? If it becomes an issue (right now I don't feel any problems), is it easy to get and replace CCM Tacks tongues (with same exact tongue I mean)? or another easy fix to this?
