Any suggestions to replace CCM 1052 Tacks?

Recommended Posts

I have played hockey for 49 years, up into Jr A back in 1982/83. I have worn out my very old 1052 Tacks (put numerous bottoms on them etc) a few years ago, I stupidly bought Crazy Ovis, hated them, couldn't skate backwards.

Can anyone suggest a "new" alternative skate. I still pay 3-4x per week, need new skates bad! cant get any great advice (I live in Ontario, but try dealing with some of the kids/owners at skate shops now)

I read some old posts, about the Easton Mako, the CCM Ribcore, can anyone with great knowledge point me in the right direction with a good comparable skate?

Thanks in advance

Not saying don't get new  skates but also keep looking on ebay and kiji or craigslist to see if you can find a pair of older Tacks.

The best skate is the one that fits the best. Any issues with the steel or pitch can be addressed with profiling or lifts. In fact, as long the crazy ovis fit, having the steel profiled would probably address whatever your problem is with them.

If you love 1052, get 1052... dick's still have them and they are cheap. They come with older style holder/blade, could be pretty close to the one you are used to. Best skate is the one you are best in... You can get a couple of them and the return the one you do not want as long as you did not skate or sharpen them. If you have Dick's nearby, you can return it to the store and save on shipping.

Wrong 1052's. He's talking about the old Custom Lite 1052's from the late 90's / early 00's. I still have a pair of the 652 Super Tacks from that time frame.

Best bet would be eBay to even find something close.
