Neo5370 132 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 I don't have access to a radar gun, but just by observation, my slapshot is slower than some people's wrist shots haha :( But, I used to play roller hockey w/ this skinny kid, had to be 5'9" 'bout 140-150 lbs., 20 yrs old and he could RIP it. Easily the hardest or second to shot in the league; he played "semi-pro" roller. I dunno if he was born genetically superhuman or what, but NO one could take the puck from him or beat him in a race.I saw him break some goalie's throat guard once. headonaswivel 1 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 5'9", buck 75.... shoot in the upper 70's, break 80 once in a while. Technique and about 17years of practice. But its not overlly relevant as I may wind up once every few games.
devilsfan26 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Anyway, two years ago I was at a pro roller hockey game at a nearby rink, and they set up a radar on one of the nets, let some guys borrow extra players' sticks and go on the rink during halftime to see how fast their shots were. My highest was 62 mph. Was that at Inman in New Jersey at a Bullets game?.... Yep
Dangles 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Last year, I was clocked at 85 KPH, dont know what that is in MPH but is was 12 and won hardest shot at a skills comp.
Neo5370 132 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Do you remember his name?....what league(s), team(s) did he play in/for? Ummm, his first name is Johnny and the last name slips my mind at the moment.I'm from Rhode Island so I dunno if you're familiar w/ this area.Anyhow, he played for the local team Franklin and a semi pro team called the Jokers aside from the usual weeknight rec leagues w/ the rest of us mortals. They went to NARCH in the 2001-2002 and competed (the jokers) in the pro division, I also went to the same tourney but I played in the College division w/ my school; Univ. of Rhode Island. He's pretty swarthy, think he's portuguese or something close to that. YES!!! MDE !! you are correct!!!It was bothering the hell outta me not remembering his damn name.He was supposedly supposed to apply or transfer to URI my second season and be our savior (we sucked harder than a hoover)But something w/ the paperwork never went through or whatever.Very cool to hear he's doing well. May I ask where you're located and if your son has ever played at all in Rhode Island?
Neo5370 132 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Also, any idea how much XIHL players make?
MDE3 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Make?.....lol....they play and practice for free and the uniforms and some equipment is provided if they are with a well sponsored team. There is a purse for the playoff winner. My son has never played in Rhode Island, always in Jersey and Pa...they (New Jersey Werewolves) compete against Johnny's team in the XIHL...., except they recruited him for their Narch Winternationals team, which is unrelated to the Werewolves other than it has some of the same players, uniforms, and the same sponsor .
