Skate sizing

Can someone tell me what the "EA" signifies on an Bauer Supreme 1S 8.5 EA skate size?

I can only think of 2 things.

Each - which makes little sense in talking about a PAIR of skates

or

Custom widths - not sure where you are seeing these skates, but that could be typical width codes.  E = relatively wide, A = narrow.  Most standard skates assume a D width.  I would assume the E is up front in the forefoot and A back in the heel.  But just a guess.

E is the skate boot width and A is the heel width. A being standard I believe.

According to this D looks to be typically the "average" width in a given size in most classification systems.  So A would be on the narrow side.  Depending on which classification Bauer uses it could be the narrowest width they make in that size, or just somewhat narrower than average.
