I guess this means Crawford will be sticking around, and that Lack isn't the answer in Carolina when Ward is done.

Darling and Lack on the same team will make for one of the best looking goalie gear duos in the league, though!

Unless there is some verbal agreement between Darling and Carolina, I think its a bit expensive to give up a 3rd round pick for exclusive negotiation rights for unrestricted player on July 1.

I didn't think of that part. Have to wonder if it's just Chicago making sure they get something for a player that may be ending up in vegas anyway?

I think it may be a case of the Hurricanes protecting themselves on the backup goalie front as it pertains to the expansion draft.
