Buying custom Bauer Skates at a LHS

I was at a hockey pro shop (SDIA in Mira Mesa, CA) and they have a sign that says they sell custom top-end Bauer skates for $1000, then it says they trace your foot and send it to Bauer.

But I was curious on how accurate this was seeing as taking specs isn't done by a Bauer employee, would it be just as accurate as if a Bauer employee was doing it and do they usually give you some options/preferences on the finished skate?

Most Bauer reps or employees aren't the custom skate fitting experts you'd like to believe. A few are, yes, but the guy who fits 25-100 pair of skate per month can handle sizing and such just as well if not better.

The rep comes in very handy when theres a question of what a specific option is or does.

Not what I mean, I mean getting custom sized and fit skates by the store tracing your foot and having bauer make the 1 of 1.

From my fitting experience, I've never need tracings. If you are able to find your size in retail skates, the sizing is the same for a Domestic Custom. it's just a matter of plugging in custom options at that point

I don't need it either, my vapors fit very well. But the fit could be perfect/better and I really like vapors and bauer a lot more than True/VH. So if I was going to get custom I'd much rather get 1x customs.
