CCM QuickLite 270 or vapor X800 pants

Recommended Posts

Both are about 90...similar fit.  I’m just a beer leaguer.  Need protection from the occasional fall, bumping, pucks, sticks...non check.

I went through this myself last month.

I owned a pair of CCM RBZ 130s, which I loved, but I wear suspenders and the suspender buttons ripped off, only had the pants 18 months.

So not impressed with the durability of the CCM pants, I was determined to go Bauer, and picked up a pair of X800s. Took them home and after trying to make adjustments to the waist/length/suspender length, really couldn't get them to fit comfortably with the rest of my gear (specifically my shin pads), so I brought them back to get the QLT 270s.

But I really didn't like the fixed back protection of the 270s (my RBZ 130s had a segmented back piece).

So I ended up ordering these.

Basically these are 270s with the segmented back protection of the 290s and upgraded inside liner. I really didn't want the added protection of the 290s, so to me this was the best of both worlds.

But like the above poster said, buy whichever you feel fits you better. I felt the X800s sat closer to the tops of my legs than the either the RBZ 130s or 270s/Quicklite Controls did.

i'm in the US...so those are a no go.  what do you mean by sat closer to the tops of your legs?

i was looking more for what's better protection and durability vs fit.

Protection wise, your looking at pretty similar pants in the X800s and 270s. I didn't see any noticeable difference between the two in terms of protection.

Durability wise, I was disappointed in my CCM 130s, so was determined at first to go with Bauer. But ultimately fit ended up a bigger concern than durability.

I was used to my 130s, and found the X800s the top/front leg padding sat right on top of my thigh unlike my 130s, so slightly less volume in the pant leg. The 270s (well Controls in my case) were a happy medium between the 130s and X800s in this regard. It's a little hard to describe, and I'm super-picky about my gear. Hope this helps.

I don't think you can go wrong with either pant if that is the type of fit your going for, as both are a tapered fit pant style.
