re-drilling and riveting skates?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Purchased a pair of 8090 skates a couple of weeks ago. While playing in a few games

i felt my right skate slightly collapsing to the inside. After the game ,checked out the skates and noticed that the tuuk holder was riveted slightly more toward the outside edge of the boot ,so the whole blade was off center. I felt that trying to cut hard right turns , i was always fighting to keep the skate in check. The blade was not crooked in relation to the front and back of the skate.

Went back to the place i purchased from and was told that the holder would have to be removed and new holes would have to be drilled in order to align the blade properly. Will this affect the rigidity of the skate ? The pro shop says it will not.

Is this a normal occurance with skates these days? What ever happened to quality control...

The store called Bauer and were told the to send the pair back and they would align it .

I chose to have the repair done at he authorized store instead of waiting for Bauer to repair.

I`ve already sent back a pair of v12 last month and had them replaced for the 8090 .

It`s ridiculous ....

That's Bauer quality! Non-exhistant. They have a BIG problem installing holders at the factory.

While the new rivet holes will not harm the skate, I would have demanded a new skate. You should not have to accept a jury rigged repair, especially on a $400 pair of skates.
