Ogie Oglethorpe 14 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 I stopped by Perani's today and picked a few of these up.Got a M1 - only it was a PRO Rafalski. Pretty cool toe curve (and there's no debating - it's dead straight until the last 2.5 inches of the blade then it hooks sharply while slightly opening the face). It was a 90 flex and (oddly) extra long (I mean, what's Rafalski - 5ft 8?).Got 2 pro XN10's. Can't remember which thread someone mentioned it on, but one of them has the crappy paint job he had mentioned the early pro stock/mules had. Oddly, it says C8 on the back (the old design) despite it (supposedly) being an XN10 (which all say C10 on the back). I got an Adams curve - seemed pretty stiff. Long blade. It's a relatively mellow curve (pretty straight actually), but not a heel curve - more of a mid heel. Reminds me a tiny bit of a Modano (but that being said, they're not similar, if you savy). It too is extra long. Then I got an extra XN10. It's got the newer graphics/paint job on it. Feels about like a 95 flex. The Montador curve looks a bit like a mellow Sakic curve, but closer to the heel and not quite as big of a curve. So, I guess one would say it's a combination of a Sakic and Drury (not quite the corkscrew blade of the Drury, not quite the large mid that Sakic is). It is extra long as well. All the early XN10s had C8 on the back if I remember correctly, I know mine did. As for the Montador, the one I had was somewhere between Drury and Bauer P106. A nice mild heel curve with some loft. Justin 1933 134 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 That Pro Rafalski is probably a high connection shaft...
Ogie Oglethorpe 14 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 The Montador you described sounds about right (although, I'm not too familiar with Bauers P106 (Heatley or Jokinen (depending on the year), right?). But think it you're about on the money with the old Jokinen P106/Drury descrip.....

Ogie Oglethorpe 14 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 Ah. Not really sure. The stick IS new, but didn't LOOK new - know what I mean (wood handle was a bit grimy - but did have a Mission NHL factory tag on it and a 90 FLEX clear label imbedded in the paint - perhaps a M2 prototype, or, hell, just an older pro issue that was squirrelled away somewhere? Looked like it was sitting in a warehouse or NJDevils storeroom for a while).
Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 I think it'd be either painted over like they used to do with McCauleys or just a fused 2-piece like Hulls R+. As for the Canadian comment, I'd fire over an e-mail or possibly even call. I know they have a store in Windsor, which may save you a fair chunk on shipping if they can ship it from there for you. Ogie Oglethorpe 14 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 Fused? Could be. I did notice what could be a seam in the paint where presumably the blade meets the shaft. I'll have to look to see if there's a taper or not when i get home.
