Left Wing King 50 Report post Posted October 4 Top cap coming away from rest of boot, is it repairable or am I looking at a new set of skates? TIA
Bolgar 9 Report post Posted October 5 If it's only threads ripping, and the plastic is intact, you can sew it back. If the plastic is broken, it is still possible to replace the cap, but you will have to find a spare one. If you find, then you tear off the tongue and side walls of the boot, remove the two front rivets and pull out the broken cap, then put in and glue to the outsole the spare one, and sew everything back
Left Wing King 50 Report post Posted October 5 Sound, so it should be a simple sew job then!
Left Wing King 50 Report post Posted October 8 As an update here in the UK, I took them to our local skate shop, who flat out refused to do it. A mobile 'experienced' guy, who said he could rivet it, which sounds like a botch job, a cobblers in town who couldn't get it in his jig. Found a company who are able to do it, posted the skates today and they'll be there tomorrow afternoon
Left Wing King 50 Report post Posted October 9 Even bigger update, basically the toe cap is cracked, it needs to be replaced. Now they don't have Nexus toe caps, but they do have Bauer ones, do toe caps come in different sizes or can any old (new) one be put on the boot? TIA
Bolgar 9 Report post Posted October 9 They come in different sizes and shapes, the model and size are specified inside the cap. If you can't find the exact one, you can try any other that more or less fits the skate. As you can see on my picture, the cap is not Easton's, but it can still be used. Yes, you will fill bit different in skates, but it will work.
