Pro Stock

It means that the equipment is made for use in pro hockey leagues like the NHL, AHL etc...

They are not the normal retail sticks that you see in most hockey shops.

So they are better than a retail ops?

I've heard people say that, but have also heard people deny it. I think the principle difference is pro stock sticks have custom flexes and blade patterns/curves.

Some claim some are made lighter, some are made more durable, etc.

Also, some pro sticks are a bit different because they're early test mules/prototypes (painted to be something else, or early versions of what will will be coming).

They are made to the players specs. Some like them to be more durable, others do not (Sundins problem as I understand it). Generally you can get curves and flexes you don't normally see and they are for the most part a little cheaper. Down side is once you get hooked on a patter they can often be difficult to find.
