Converting Bauer Vapor XX to 2 Piece

Recommended Posts

Well, a friend gave me a Senior Bauer Vapor XX that he broke at the blade. I am in need of a good backup stick and I would like to convert this one to a decent 2 piece stick. Should I just the insert a blade on the top end and cut the stick at the blade side? Would this have bad effects on my flex and my shooting? Would I be better off just trying to estimate where the tapering ends on the blade side, cut it there, and try inserting a Junior or Intermediate blade? Anyone try this before and have any suggestions. I know the topics been covered but I wasn't sure if it was the same process for all OPS. Thanks for your help.

First, try heating up the shaft where the blade begins, and try getting the broken blade out that way. It has worked on Vapor XXs for some. Then you would fit in a senior tapered blade such as an R2, Synthesis, etc. If that doesn't work you will have to cut above the blade tenon, but a tapered blade SHOULD still fit in there. You will have to add a plug to compensate for the lost length. I would not advise you to flip it and put in a standard blade, as that is a waste of a tapered shaft.

If you still have/want the taper on the stick, I wouldn't put it on the opposite site. Besides, the sticker on the Vapor XX will keep getting in your way if you flipped it around. Just try to remove what's left of the blade and insert a tapered blade in. Your other option is just to cut the stick above the taper and then stick in a standard blade. Keep in mind your Vapor XX will become more stiff as you cut it.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I think I'm gonna go ahead remove the foam, cut the stick add a reasonable part (any specific spot i should cut it at?) and buy a tapered blade then and hopefully it should fit in. If not I'll cut it a little more and go with a standard blade, adding in a plug as well.

take the tapered blade and measure it up to the OPS blade.....cut where the tennon ends or cut at the very beggining of the tennon if you want to chisel out the stuff and not lose any length

BTW have you tried heating it?

Update: Cut just at about the fuse point and chisled out the tennon. Just got my inno in the mail today and it fit like a damn puzzle....couldn't be any better and its lighter than what it used to be....SO damn balanced! Its unbelieveable :D
