Good problem?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a little bit of a problem. I needed to get new skates, because I have had enough of my grafs. Ive been waiting for my store to get synergys and vapor xxx's in my size for a couple of weeks now. So my dad went up there today because he was going in that direction anways. Well he came home and handed me a pair of synergy skates, turns out I get to try them for free, since w are very good friends with them. Only problem is there a 10 R,and my grafs were a 9.5 W. My feet are still a 9.5 though (they didn't have a 9.5). I put them on and I was blown away though. there not too narrow or wide, there perfect, and they are a tad bit long, but still fit very nice. Im gonna skate in them tommorow at practice and most likley this whole week.

But I really wanted to try on some vapor xxx's, so I need to know what you guys think. Should I wait 2 more weeks to try them on even if I like the synergys? Also I was wondering does the vapor xx fit the same as the vapor xxx? If so then I can just try them on. Anyways I know I will be switching holders no matter what, because I wont skate in anything unless its lightspeeds.

I also wanted to know if bauer fixed the problem of there vapor line breaking down? I know my cousin was going through vapor xx's last year just like he was going through sticks. I want my next pair of skates to last. If someone wants to give me a reveiw on both skates, I would appreciate it.

So what do you guys think I should do? thanks in advance.

Only one of those 2 should fit your foot (assuming at least 1 does). If you like the synergy skates stick with them. There's a thread on XXX durability.

I say you're one lucky guy to get free synergy skates. I thought I was getting a deal on my G3s when i got $100 off but free skates wow. As for your question I would just stick with the Synergy skates seeing as they fit and are likely more durable than the XXXs.

I think he meant he gets to try them on for free, not keep them. Imo, I would wait for the XXX and try them first. Because if you end up not linking the fi of the XXX you can always go back and pick up the synergys. Try not to be tempted; "impulse buying". lol

I would stay with the SyNergys if I were you. If the SyNergy fits your foot, odds are the Vapors aren't even going to be close; they are two totally different boots.

From a durability point of view, after owning Vapor 20s for the past 3 years, the durabilty as everyone knows; SUCKS. If I did not have a bauer rep as a neighbour, I wouldn't (my dad ;) ) be dishing out that amount of cash.

After looking at the Synergy skates, I believe these look like they would last longer than the Vapor XX/XXX. However, if you are willing to wait; try on both pairs and see which one fits you better. Plus, I don't think its good to be switching skates during playoff time (if it is for you). B)

Thanks guys. Hopefully they feel this good on the ice. I can't wait to try these tommorow. If they fit Im going to call my LHS and tell them to set me up with a pair with lightspeeds. I like how the holes are already in the boot so tuuk holders can get installed. The only problem I can see with me having with this boot (dont think it will be though) is that the boot is a tad bit higher than my graf boot. I am not sure if this is the 04 or 05 model though.

Also to let you guys know, I just get to try these out for free, because my parents and I are good friends with the owners of this store.

I got another question though, since Im getting lightspeeds put on, what is the real difference between LS and LS2? I haven't noticed anything but the red instead of the black. so should I just get normal lightspeeds? Thanks again.

Alright guys, so last night I put them on and skated before practice for about 5 min, and I decided I will use them at todays practice because on sunday nights we do mostly conditioning. So I put them on for practice today, and they felt ok, about the same as my graf (which are 703's). At first when I was skating around they felt good, had nice forward flex actually, and felt pretty comfy. But after we stretched we had to do some other drills, and when I was moving around a lot more, they started to hurt like how my grafs do. I get pain on the side of my foot, and its right in the middle on the outside and sometimes on the inside. Then they started to cut into my ankles and it hurt really bad, so I switched back to my grafs. The other thing I didn't like was the heel felt a little too wide, and the rest of the foot a little bit narrow.

Do you guys think that that could be because of the .5 size too big? Also does anyone know if the 05 boots actually work so they dont cut into your ankles? I am thinking since these dont fit my feet, I am going to wait for my hockey shop to get in vapor xxx's, and give them a try.

EDIT- The vapor xxx boot looks pretty high like the synergy, has anyone had any problems with it being too high? Thanks.
