The time has come to stop jerking the fans around, be men and announce that the 2004 - 2005 season is offically cancelled. I am tired of last minute talks that produce only media sound bites and something to talk about around the water cooler, while providing little or no real substance. The time has come, put up or shut up so we can get on with our lives, so major junior can schedule Saturday night games instead of Sunday matinees. Has anyone checked out the NHLPA's website lately, looks like they're promoting European hockey..... SCABS, and hypocrytes.

Hockey belongs to the masses, not a collection of billionaires and millionaires.

We, the fans, need a commissioner for the game. Not for the owners or the players. But, without an economic stake in the business, the fans don't have the power to be fairly represented.

The NHL, by not setting a "line in the sand" date, is attempting to sow dissension among the NHLPA ranks (especially the 3rd and 4th liners who won't be able to find work in Europe or elsewhere). The NHLPA execs realize this, and is trying to call the NHL's bluff and not cave into a system that would limit salary inflation. Both sides are just trying to get the most that they can (both sides are being greedy).

(So, who will remain unified / last longer: the NHLPA members or the owners?)
