Large skates

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know of any online stores that sell large (13 and up) skates. I have found a few places that have the graf 502's (i think) in 13 and the 705's in 14 or 15, but I can't afford $400 skates, and I'm not sure 13's will fit. I'm sorry if there is a sticky for this or it has already been posted somewhere, but I searched. TIA

I don’t know of any online places, but you should probably have someone who knows what they are doing fit you. Bauer doesn’t even make above 13. Shoe size has no correlation (My shoe is an 11 US and I wear a 7D skate). Make sure you know your size, because if a pro has never fitted you before, chances are your skates are way too big.

I just know the last skates I tried on were 13's. I couldn't wear them for more than 10 min because my toes were curled in the ends. I wear a 15 shoe, so I figure I need at least a 13.5 skate.

Just to add my experience to the fray......

I wear a size 14 or 15 in nike (depends on the model),and anywhere from a 13 - 15 in other makes of shoe.

All of my old skates (bauers) were sized from 12 - 13, as different models (this is over 25 years of playing as an adult) would fit differently.

In looking for new skates this year I figured I would surely need some custom 13's or larger. Then I found some Mission 13-D's that fit my long flat (relatively) narrow foot very well once they were baked. I know skates are usually sized down a bit, except in Mission, but these Missions fitting true to shoe size were a pleasant surprise.

My advice would be to try various skates on.....the different nuances of each manufacturer (CCM being wider, etc.) really could make a difference for you. It had a been a long time since my last new skates, and I was quite surprised trying new ones on this year how differently they seem to fit......

Now, I have also seen some size 13 Tacks on EBay.....those things looked huge.

From one guy who has a hard hard time finding footwear to another -- good luck!

I think I might try some 13's. I found some Graf 502's at hockey monkey and i might just ord them and send them back if they don't fit. I'm almost positive I can't wear 13's in mission bc the last 13's I tried on were tiny. I'm just going to hope that whatever it was ran small.

Try Zwickers in Bedford Mass. They always seem to have odd sizes in stock and I understand they get all the Bruins pro returns. (might be some big sizes there) I have a customer that just picked up a brand new pair of Doust skates from them. If you are a goalie, you can get brand new leather Cooper pads there. I don't think they ever get rid of anything!

Zwickers is probably 1/2 hr drive from Natick.. Take the Rt 225/4 exit off I-95 and follow it thru town of Bedford, stay on Rt 4 you'll pass right by Zwickers on Rt 4.

I found out today that Easton no longer makes over a 12.5. All others have to be custom ordered. I can't find anyone with 13's of anything other than missions in stock. I wish I had smaller feet.

I appreciate it. I just found that site a few hours ago. They too are out of stock. I found a set of size 14 bauer classic silvers in Canada, but they were a little more than I wanted to pay (if anybody needs them let me know and I'll get you their number). I'm thinking about a custom pair of easton synergy 700's. I think I could get them done for under $300. Is $100 really a good charge for a custom order? That is the best quote I've gotten so far for a custom order, so if anybody knows a place where I can get a better price, please let me know. I appreciate everyone's help!

More troubles. I am having trouble finding someone who will custom order a skate for me at a reasonable price. The only place I have found so far was a little too expensive. They wanted $269 plus $100 for the synergy 700's. I just can't justify $200 over great skate's price. So, if anybody knows of a place that will order custom skates let me know. Thanks
