Cracking along the bottom of a composite blade

Recommended Posts

is it normal for the bottom of composite blades to start cracking (from heal to toe)? this is my first easton synthesis blade... and curious, is it preventable? or is this just something that happens to composite blades?

thanks in advance

Maybe a little too normal. I seem to get some good ones, then i'll have 2 or 3 that crack along the bottom. Then it's back to the good ones again. I'm thinking of trying an R2 or Bauer Vapor XV to see if they last any longer. I think I need a lower lie, a little too much on the heel when I shoot.

my synthesis si-core is starting to have the same thing than you...but it not cracking...it starting to have some mark...so i just gonna tape my blade more often...it a 3 month old blade

Putting a piece of tape along the bottom may help but it's vurtually impossible from preventing the synthesis or any othe low kickpoint blade (besides the inno's) from breaking.

yea, that's what i thought, but was in denial. maybe i will just try to stop excessive banging of the stick after goals then. :)

Solution: STOP taping the stick on the ice when you want a pass! I hate when people do this. First, it tells EVERYONE on the ice that you are looking for a pass, second it causes cracks in composites. Since Eastons are pieces of crap, foam with a little carbon around it, they crack very easy. Then, bye-bye stick soon after.

Same thing happened to my Synergy SL after 20 minutes and there are a lot of people who have complained about si-cores splitting along the bottom. All blades break but this particular problem seems to be happening much more with Easton blades. Maybe they use a different manufacturing process?
