Wide flat, feet

Recommended Posts

So I got these stupid wide flat feet and I always have problems finding propper fitting shoes and skates. I'm entering my second year of roller hockey and I'm feeling like I should get some skates that finally fit properly. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've seen lots of threads for people with narrow feet or high arches but I have neither. I heard that the new CCMs PF series skates are very wide but no one in Vancouver seems to carry any of the higher models.

I'm a wide flat footer and EE missions have always worked well for me. Only skate I've liked more in my Graf 609s and those don't come in in-lines, you could always get a pair converted if you like.

The new Tours sound like the Skate for u. If u can find a pair of 04 D series skates by Mission in EE width then those are also a good fitting skate for your foot type.

Tomas

I had a pair of 04 EE width missions (Untill some wad stole them) and they killed myinsoles. They were too narrow for me, and fairly uncomfortable.

I found CCM's to be a good fitting boot for me.

So I guess the concensus is that the Tours and CCMs are really wide and the missions wide but less so than the CCMs. Unfortunately I live in Vancouver and so there isnt much selection available.. I don't think Tours are available at all in Canada.. 04 Mission skates are tough to come by these days esp in smaller sizes (I'm a size 8 in Missions, I think I'm a 7 in others) I guess I'll go get my LHS to order some PF8s or something.

You may want to call one of the Perani's in Canada and see if their willing to ship to you. There's one in London and Windsor. I know they will be carrying Tours.

I have wide and very flat feet as well, the missions S series ice skates fit me like a glove. They do fit differently than their inlines if you were wondering. I have s500's for ice and a pair converted to an inline setup. The s500's are great, but the s400's are also a great skate at a great price, try some on if you get a chance. Also like other people have mentioned CCM tacks and this years tour skates fit fairly wide as well.

Missions have worked for me also. Just stay away from more narrow brands like Bauer for your wide feet.

Not a lot of people can afford a 450+ CDN dollar skate just to convert it for use for mostly recreational roller hockey.

Thanks for the suggestion Duckjob, I'll keep them in mind when I look for ice skates next season but I agree with tokes, I think it might be a bit unafordable for the time being..

As for the Tours, it looks like Pirani's does carry them but they're mainly a US based company so they ship everything from there. (At least the online site says so) If I were to order stuff from an online shop it looks like Hockey Giant would work.. and I get one of those flashy H-90 helmets thrown in.. :D

I'm kinda confused about the CCM inlines though. Since they're labeled Vectors do they fit like Vector Ice skates or more like the Tacks? Does anyone have any experience with those skates?

And I heard a rumor about the newer Nike skates being fairly wide as well. Does anyone have any opinions?

I tried on some Nike's today, they're just as narrow as the Bauers, I would not fit into them. The new CCM's are, as far as I know, based off of the Vector ice boot. I tried on a pair of Vector PF6 skates today, and I really liked the way they feel. They're priced modestly at under 300 dollars at my LHS, and feel quite nice. As soon as I get some more money I am going to purchase a pair, and I'll let you know how they work out for me.

I would actually call the Canadian locations and specifically ask them to ship their stock, and not from the on-line warehouse.

I found out that they carry CCM PF2s and Tour Max 700 skates at The Hockey Shop in Surrey. I went down there to try out the skates and got my feet measured out by one of those measuring things and found out to my surprise that I'm in fact a size 6

Anyways the tours didn't fit too great. They were tight around the forefoot and arch. And wider missions (I tried the He550 in size 7E) and those seemed to have a short toe box which I didn't like. The CCM PF2s however were very comfortable although the heel seemed a little loose. I think I'm going to look for a higher model in the CCM skates and HOPE that improved heet padding and other fancy things on those skates lock down my heel better. Thanks for everyone's sugestions and input on this topic! :D
