i was looking at this. i think it'll be interesting for me being in indiana. because there are no good roller rinks in the state really. i might show up to try outs just to see who comes out. i'd be in the adult division. should be craptastic.

Thought about it...thought about it some more...and realized that the Missouri talent will be insane and I have no chance. adult division also.

43%: Hook me up with an Indiana state ID and let's roll. Better yet, let's find some Idaho state IDs and make it a road trip. There's no good inline players in Idaho is there? :P

Not to steer away from the topic, but Burnt, where you at in Indiana and I feel you, we have no roller programs here in Indiana. And back to the topic, I thought about it but don't really know if i'll go out for it since i've never played competetive roller hockey before.

howdy, i'm from indianapolis. there are some pretty nice ice rinks here, but people rarely show up to those either. my friends of mine run some pretty good adult roller hockey in the summers at perry park on the south side of indianapolis. they've been trying to get a rink built the last two years. unfortunatly the city as well as parks and recreation have been less than helpful in the process.

If any of you Indy adult guys are ever needing a player for a tourney (on SportCourt preferrably...yeah I'm snobby like that), give me a shout via PM. I'd be interested in a road trip and I'm sure that I could round up a few others if needed. Just give me a few weeks notice and I'm there.

Im from Missouri too. I am thinking about trying out for the 87 birth year. There will be some really tough competition though. I probaly wont make up my mind to weather try out or not until the dead line.

P.S.

Hey ShortHanded, there is a stick and puck up at All American this Saturday night. Its from 11:30 p.m till 1:30 p.m. You should come out. Competition is kinda weak(at least for me) but it still a fun time to go out there and mess around. If you come, let me know.

Yeah, I don't know if the roller hockey talent here in the St. Louis area is a blessing or a curse sometimes.

I probably won't play this Saturday night because I have a flight leaving to Florida at 6am Sunday (although I hate flying so sleeping on the plane might not be a bad idea....). Usually I work at 5am on Sunday mornings, but PM me and we'll try to play pick-up somewhere sometime. Are you playing at either TORHS regional coming up this month (one at MSG TriPlex, one at All-American)?

The Darien Sportsplex is one of the nicest buildings I've ever played in. Though it was only for nationals so we played some games on the two inline rinks in the one big room, then some in each of the two ice rinks.

I made the Ohio tryout for the 85/86 team. I'm actually an 87 but we only had 6 87's tryout so we combined with the 85/86. It should be a lot of fun.

They can do that?

Yea if a team doesn't have enough players they can move players from a lower age group up one division i believe. Players cannot move down though, hence the reason we are playing in the 85/86 bracket and not the 87 bracket.

Does anyone know of the competition for the '88's in Indiana, I never really thought roller was that big in Indiana but I am just looking for any opinions if anyone would happen to know. Thanks

i'd honestly be suprised if there is enough younger kids to field a line, let alone a team. unless they've been hiding somewhere, you're not going to find many roller hockey players in indiana. if you do, they'd probably be from fort wayne.

You boys from the midwest should drive up to Iowa and we can play here. We've got nobody.

Someone have a link to the info for this?

EDIT: Nevermind I found it. I think I'm definitely going to tryout for Iowa as an '86. The Illinois tryout is closer to me but I'm not sure what they would think of that. Not that I'd care, because I'd love to play some really competitive hockey before college.

Well I just found out that you have to be a resident of the state, so guess I will be driving to Des Moines. Only 3 hours. Plus the actual tournament is being held three hours away in Wisconsin. Not to bad at all.

Now you guys got me all excited.

EDIT: Just signed up for the Iowa tryout on April 22. I'm pretty confident I will make the team. It's going to be a lot of fun.

43%Burnt...funny you say the Fort Wayne thing because I live in Fort Wayne and now that you said that, I think I'm trying out, thanks for the info nonetheless though. I appreciate it.

OK, i see. Though i do think it would make more sense to move them down as opposed to up.

It makes sense the way they do it. It has been done this way in almost all sports since the beginning. If you moved people down you would have 20 years olds playing against a whole lot of 17 years olds. Rather than having some 17 year olds that are good enough playing against a bunch of 20 year olds.
