Anyone heard of a 9/10 Split ?

Recommended Posts

Hi I recently had my local skate sharpener profile my skate blades. He asked my positon and I told him mostly forward sometime on Defense. I told him I didn't want the skates to be tipped down too far. He adjusted them and gave me what he called an 9/10 Split 9ft in the front 10ft in the back. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard / tried it before. If so what advantages / Disadvantages are there to this ?

The concept behind it is that you will be able to turn better when you lean forward, however, since the working radius is longer in the back, will provide more stability.

I'm on a 9-10 profile right now. I really like it. I wanted something a little longer than the standard Bauer 9' for added stability and glide speed, but I didn't want to sacrifice maneuverability. It's worked out really well. I have vapor xx's and I really like Tuuk holders, but the shape of the steel itself I find to be poorly shaped. Thick on the toe section and it rises up in the heel. I think it should be the opposite. I had to have a custom toe shape done for my blades and the guy who sparpens my skates never rounds off the heels of the skates he does. Play around with things and you'll get it right.

Pretty easy pickup. A 7/10 split is a bi*ch! :D
