shute 4 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 damn that is either a type-O or they are trying to kill stock BAD! even their red max which is a lower model is selling for more!
mik3 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 I think the silvermax is somewhere between the 700s and the redmax, closer to the 700 boot but with the humm'r on it. so that price doesn't seem that far off.
shute 4 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 but look at epucks price for that skate.. it's like $100 more. the only thing i can't put my finger on is that at epuck the silvermax has 2005 beside the name while all the other skates don't... maybe the one listed at hockeygiant is the 2004 model
mik3 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 Nah, there's no actual 2005 line. I guess they just consider it a 2005 because they got it late 2004. It's sorta like the SMU skates/equipment you'll find at THG stores that come out mid-model year. They usually split the difference between two models taking parts from both and introduce it as a "new" model.
sdcopp 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 The silvermax was not part of the normal line-up, and was designed as a promo skate of sorts. Why do you think they'd build a skate almost identical to one already in the line, and offer a free helmet while charging only 40-50 dollars more. Since it was a limited production promo item, they may want to move the last little bit of inventory.
shute 4 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 yep looks like they are just trying to kill off stock
shute 4 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 yep looks like they are just trying to kill off stock but it's still one heck of a deal
#1STUD 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 Thats a really good deal. I actually believe the skate is supposed to be between the the red max and the blue max.
clboy 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 Too tempting to resist, their going to replace my 2003 Mission R skates that I use for league play where the boot is now getting really soft and not providing the lateral support. Provided they fit it should be an upgrade over what I'm using now.
sdcopp 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 Thats a really good deal. I actually believe the skate is supposed to be between the the red max and the blue max. The Silvermax in stiffness and durability is almost identical to the Redmax. It was designed as a promo skate to be sold with a "free" H-90 helmet.
MDE3 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 As far as I know the Red Max and the Silver Max are in fact the same skate, except for the "Glitz"..ie color scheme and whatever materials change was needed to effect this. As was said, it was a promotional skate with a little more "flash" to get players to try the Tour brand and get used to the Tour feel and the Hum'er chassis. They are using the free helmet to promote the company's involvement in other hockey equipment other than skates....It also has a unique look with their color schemes, and seems to be a pretty comfortable and protective helmet, plus it get's players flying the "Tour Flag" more noticably.. opus22 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 is the hummer chassis on the silver max the same as the high end skates? some places charge 150 for the chassis alone.
MDE3 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 Not the same version of the Hum'er...
northern_iron 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 I read this on epuck.com a while back....The chassis on the SilverMax and RedMax is the Hummer Magnum, which is a partially extruded chassis. On the BlueMax and Beemer its the Hummer Pro which is fully extruded (and therefore allegedly stronger).btw Just how wide are Tours? I've seen regular and narrow widths for their ice skates but the inlines only appear to have one width...
Aggie 9 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 I just bought a pair (my first pair of Tour skates ever) and skated three games in them. The boot is as wide as a Nike Roller Daddy D width. The boot of the Silver Max is even more flexible than the Roller Daddy. They are really comfortable, no sore spots so far, even though they are a little small for me (no half sizes). Can't really say if I was faster, but I had no problems with agility switching from a Hi-Lo chassis.
