NHL Pants

Recommended Posts

I know I've seen this discussed before but searched and couldn't find the the thread...

Which pants are most worn in the NHL? Any of the guys wear girdles?

From what I recall most wear a Bauer two piece pant but I can't remember the model...

It doesn't really have a model. Bauer makes one pro stock pant IIRC, and it's been the same for about a decade at this point. A lot of guys wear old ccm pants (specifically the mhp520 and mhp1052) rebranded with either the new ccm logo or reebok branding. As far as I know nearly every pro stock reebok or ccm model in existence is some variation of an old ccm pant. The one exception that I'm aware of is the one piece 9k. Some players on the Columbus Blue Jackets have been known to wear it.

No girdles as far as I know. Not enough protection at the pro level.

Actually, a ton of guys are wearing girdles. Mostly younger guys, but a few older ones as well.

I have spent alot of time in NHL locker rooms over the last few years. The older 9k reebok girdle/shell is the most common by far. There are a number of players wearing their sponsors shell (Bauer or Easton) over a 9k shell. You will see a little bit of everything. I wear one myself and it is by far the lightest, most mobile option out there

No, it means that there is an upper half that protects the hips and upper thighs, and then a lower that looks like a shell but with heavy duty lower thigh pads sewn in. The two button together to form pants that look like any retail model available right now.
