  1. I'd buy socks or a practice jersey from these guys in a second. I've bought other brands from them. No problems with their customer service. And while the copycatting is distasteful, the real reason I won't buy a stick is just a matter of trust.

All the big and little companies play the advertising game, touting features that may or may not make any difference -- but I trust Tron's statements even less. They're exceptionally nonsensical and often contradictory. And I've noticed major changes in their descriptions before and after the arrival of a product, which suggests they haven't even seen the pre-sale products. Add that to the customer review issue above. If I'm spending over $100 $40 on a stick, I'd like to have some confidence in the description.

  2. pick ups today...

    2 Dennis Wideman/"Krejci" Clone EQ50 repaints

Winter Classic Socks & Navy Home Socks

    Brooks Laich X60 Pro Mitts

Scott Hannan Winter Classic Easton Mitts

    Dennis Wideman Franchise Advanced Mitts

Very nice! Any Wideman Graf gloves there? There were reports on here about the new Graf line of gloves, but I haven't seen them anywhere except Mr. Wideman's hands.

  3. Pond Hockey tournament. This is me (in the M11), skating around with my stick in the air so as to avoid contact with the puck. But seriously, I was pretty bad. I wasn't prepared for the big, deep cracks all over the surface of each rink. But they didn't bother the good skaters. More practice for you.

Still a ton of fun, and beautiful days.

  4. I feel "Back" I've had at least 3 goals in every game on my sunday games in the last four games, and in another game i had five goals, It's amazing how it feels to now be going full after so many years of being a little in fear from all my concussions and now feeling 100% just getting in all the areas, and even my mean streak is back!

    What an amazing change.

Congrats on the recovery. But I'm confused ... how can one player have that many goals?

  5. That widow is weird... might be some kind of tester or display stick.

Yeah, I assume some kind of test stick. Skated with it today, and all good so far. Except that it's super slick. I often use non-grip sticks, but this is the first time I noticed slickness on the bottom hand. I'm going to try a candy-cane tape job.

  6. Just received this today off eBay. Taking a chance but it feels legit. I wanted to try a widow and this is the right flex and curve.

All black, not a label or text anywhere except for the sticker at the top. Glossy all the way down until the bottom 3rd, after which you can see the weave pattern.

  7. Just got a pair in the mail yesterday. I'll agree with most of the comments. Palms feel a bit chunky, the build quality isn't the best... however, they are still comfortable and most definitely have plastic inserts in the backrolls/fingers.

They claim the palm is MSH2. Is it even close to that?

  8. Those work alot better than what I took on my iPad lol thanks for bailing me out :)

Think I'm going to order an LE stick today, trying to decide if it's worth it to pay $80 and get a free basic with it or pay $65 and just get the LE

I'd say it depends on how many sticks you have in your garage. If you really need a back-up, sounds like a good deal. But if it's just going to be your 7th best stick, why waste even $15?

  9. Whoops wrong name, I asked hockey tron how they fit to get a general idea and the first response was "they fit like CCM" but since the new u+ line fits me alot better than the older vector lines I asked them to elaborate and they just said "its a CCM last so that's what it will fit like." which didn't really help me so I have been hesitant to order a pair

Oh, well then. I should have asked that. I usually wear a 9.5 for regular shoes, but my CCM skates are a 7. I went by the chart on their "Need help with sizing page" and ordered the suggested 8. And now I also see on their skates page they have a different sizing chart (??), which suggests an 8.5.

  10. Axxion did you try on the skates or just buying on a whim?

If you're asking me about the skates, I just bought on a whim. Never had inline skates, just wanted something to get some off-ice skating in and for messing around with my kids. I'm patient enough to go through the exchange process if the size is way off. Maybe they've suckered me in for $64 -- I'll let you know.

  11. well that's lame of Hockeytron...no more free shipping over $30...now it's $99 or more

For a while it was free shipping for everything.

I just ordered a few things, including a pair of their inline skates to mess around in. We'll see how it goes. It they're half as good as the claim to be, I'll be satisfied.

  12. U21g5.jpg

Recent Ebay purchases. A year ago, I didn't know what any of this stuff was. I blame all of you.

X60 pros, Bonafides (yes, those are the ones I tried to sell before receiving. no, they are not for sale now), X88 pants.

Both pairs of gloves are fantastic, though I think the Warriors need a bit more break-in time. They are the first I have had with mesh gussets, which seems like a no-brainer unless you're playing outside in sub-zero temps.

Regardless, I still mainly use my PPFs for games.

  13. They seem to be pretty decent indeed. Digital overlay on palms, spandex-like gussets, plastic inserts all over the glove, a short cuff, embroidered logo, they come in lots of colors even the liner looks good... and most importantly, all of this for just 60$ CND ahah

Are those gold or copper colored?

  14. Torn changed the looks of their helmet a bit and in my opinion the angle from the front looks either like some form of bug or an UFO leaving the mother ship.

Yeah, you'd have to be a little crazy to pre-order any of their items, considering how the prototypes and dates keep changing. But who knows, maybe it'll be everywhere in a year?

  15. Interested to see how their knock-off PPFs do. $99 isn't that cheap for a glove, nor is it that cheap compared to what PPFs are selling at. I don't have any data, but seems to me that unless you're going to be something like 60% (maybe 50%) or below the price of the real thing, than buying the real thing makes sense for most people. Are you really going to take the chance just to save 25%? Their socks and elite sticks seem to fall at 50% or lower.

I'm also surprised that knockoffs like this don't try to outhustle the big guys on something like color. I know that adding colors isn't free as far as manufacturing costs, but imagine if they offered $99 PPF knockoffs and there are 15 color options.

And again we're talking about knockoff, generic items -- as opposed to true conterfeits where the consumer actually believes it's an Eagle glove.

  16. Any further thoughts on the Tron sticks? I ordered one but returned it, completely unused. (It was my issue, not the stick's.)

But I'm still curious as to what people think. I could see it going either way: knockoff sticks that perform just as well (for most players) for considerably less money, or knockoff sticks that have the same specs (weight, composition, look) but significantly diluted performance.

  17. 1. the cost to patent isn't cheap in the grand scheme of things, and, once approved, the cost to enforce the patent when someone violates it (i.e. Bauer vs. Easton)

Well that would be unusual for an industry like this. Certainly the decision to enfore is a strategic (expensive) one. But these companies are going to apply for a patent any small advancement that they can. That goes for the little guys and the big guys. There's a healthy number of published patent applications in the US for Bauer, Easton, Warrior and the random garage inventors. Whether any of them end up being very valuable is another question.
