  1. I'd buy socks or a practice jersey from these guys in a second. I've bought other brands from them. No problems with their customer service. And while the copycatting is distasteful, the real reason I won't buy a stick is just a matter of trust. All the big and little companies play the advertising game, touting features that may or may not make any difference -- but I trust Tron's statements even less. They're exceptionally nonsensical and often contradictory. And I've noticed major changes in their descriptions before and after the arrival of a product, which suggests they haven't even seen the pre-sale products. Add that to the customer review issue above. If I'm spending over $100 $40 on a stick, I'd like to have some confidence in the description.
  2. Very nice! Any Wideman Graf gloves there? There were reports on here about the new Graf line of gloves, but I haven't seen them anywhere except Mr. Wideman's hands.
  3. New things for me: Projekt Shoulders Koncept Elbows - from the generous Fat Wabbit on the other side of the world! Tacklas - an old scuffed and patched pair from eBay. Love 'em.
  4. Pond Hockey tournament. This is me (in the M11), skating around with my stick in the air so as to avoid contact with the puck. But seriously, I was pretty bad. I wasn't prepared for the big, deep cracks all over the surface of each rink. But they didn't bother the good skaters. More practice for you. Still a ton of fun, and beautiful days.
  5. Congrats on the recovery. But I'm confused ... how can one player have that many goals?
  6. Those look fantastic. Is that a digital palm, and then some other material for the gussets?
  7. Looks like the Washington Huskies. Pretty cool.
  8. Yeah, I assume some kind of test stick. Skated with it today, and all good so far. Except that it's super slick. I often use non-grip sticks, but this is the first time I noticed slickness on the bottom hand. I'm going to try a candy-cane tape job.
  9. Just received this today off eBay. Taking a chance but it feels legit. I wanted to try a widow and this is the right flex and curve. All black, not a label or text anywhere except for the sticker at the top. Glossy all the way down until the bottom 3rd, after which you can see the weave pattern.
  10. They claim the palm is MSH2. Is it even close to that?
  11. I'd say it depends on how many sticks you have in your garage. If you really need a back-up, sounds like a good deal. But if it's just going to be your 7th best stick, why waste even $15?
  12. Oh, well then. I should have asked that. I usually wear a 9.5 for regular shoes, but my CCM skates are a 7. I went by the chart on their "Need help with sizing page" and ordered the suggested 8. And now I also see on their skates page they have a different sizing chart (??), which suggests an 8.5.
  13. If you're asking me about the skates, I just bought on a whim. Never had inline skates, just wanted something to get some off-ice skating in and for messing around with my kids. I'm patient enough to go through the exchange process if the size is way off. Maybe they've suckered me in for $64 -- I'll let you know.
  14. For a while it was free shipping for everything. I just ordered a few things, including a pair of their inline skates to mess around in. We'll see how it goes. It they're half as good as the claim to be, I'll be satisfied.
  15. The Tron site is all jacked up for me today. I just get big blank boxes that say "Coupon Deal" and "Special Offer", etc.
  16. Helmet: M11 with Bauer cage (sometimes an Oakley shield) Shoulder: Warrior Method Elbow: Graf G700 Shin: Warrior Method Pant: Eagle X88 Gloves: Eagle PPF; Harrow Syncro Hybrid Skates: CCM U+ Pro Sticks: X:60 shaft with X:60 blade (P106); Harrow 300 shaft with Harrow pattern 3 blade; O'Byrne TO
  17. Recent Ebay purchases. A year ago, I didn't know what any of this stuff was. I blame all of you. X60 pros, Bonafides (yes, those are the ones I tried to sell before receiving. no, they are not for sale now), X88 pants. Both pairs of gloves are fantastic, though I think the Warriors need a bit more break-in time. They are the first I have had with mesh gussets, which seems like a no-brainer unless you're playing outside in sub-zero temps. Regardless, I still mainly use my PPFs for games.
  18. Got a physical lesson today in why it's important to keep the board doors closed. Ouch.
  19. Looks fantastic. Great choices. Did you do the rush order through Ice Warehouse?
  20. Thanks misters boy and fish, this is good information. I'll check around the reviews and prices on the '11 DD.
  21. Close to having one of these ordered as a gift, but still a little confused on the fused stick. I mean, there are lots of comments on the widow on this site and elsewhere. But there are HUNDREDS of comments on dolomites here and elsewhere, and tons of models (DD, HD, spyne), ranging from $100 to $200, with many differing comments on weight, performance, durability. I'm using a totalone that I bought used right now, and like it. Is this fused custom Warrior going to be similar? In weight and durability? I don't mean to be insulting, but if it's not really a $200 quality stick, maybe the Widow makes more sense.
  22. Are those gold or copper colored?
  23. Yeah, you'd have to be a little crazy to pre-order any of their items, considering how the prototypes and dates keep changing. But who knows, maybe it'll be everywhere in a year?
  24. So why all the Dolos instead of Widows? As I understand it, two reasons are cost ($50) and that you're more likely to be able to use the shaft if the blade breaks. Those are good enough reasons, I'm sure, but is there something else? Some performance reason? Are they different weights?
  25. Interested to see how their knock-off PPFs do. $99 isn't that cheap for a glove, nor is it that cheap compared to what PPFs are selling at. I don't have any data, but seems to me that unless you're going to be something like 60% (maybe 50%) or below the price of the real thing, than buying the real thing makes sense for most people. Are you really going to take the chance just to save 25%? Their socks and elite sticks seem to fall at 50% or lower. I'm also surprised that knockoffs like this don't try to outhustle the big guys on something like color. I know that adding colors isn't free as far as manufacturing costs, but imagine if they offered $99 PPF knockoffs and there are 15 color options. And again we're talking about knockoff, generic items -- as opposed to true conterfeits where the consumer actually believes it's an Eagle glove.
