  1. How does one end up getting volume issues in these skates? I assume if you take accurate measurements with pictures of your foot, you should get a perfect fit the first time, or need maybe some minor tweaks that you could work out yourself with some additional heat molding.

Is it common that people have to return these to him, or order different tongues, etc?

This skate, and this forum in general, is attractive to "tinkerers" who have extraordinarily high standards for their equipment, which is why 1) these skates are so popular here and 2) why these skates get returned to Scott so frequently by forum members.

  2. VERY interesting. Thanks for sharing. Interesting to see the Reebok E-Pro being more forward than the LS2. Would love to see where the CCM SB fits in.

Anecdotal evidence (UW Badger EQM) has the SpeedBlade holder at the same pitch as the LS 2.

Thanks, AfftonDad. This is very interesting stuff.

  3. The difference is negligible, unless you're comparing youth skates to a size 14 boot. If it helps, think of it as +1, +2 and not in actual trigonometric degrees. This isn't structural engineering, it's a rough estimation and has been the industry standard for decades.

He just explained they're not actual degrees. Why are we photoshopping hypotheticals?

  4. I searched through the thread, but couldnt find a definite answer: Does the LS edge holder line up perfectly with the cxn holder? Im trying out a pair of APX2's and its cheaper for me to just try out the skate with a cxn holder than getting the steel profiled.

Yes, the holes line up perfectly. Just had some CXNs put on my nexus skates.

  5. Well, the saga continues. I've been off my skates for 2 weeks due to ankle issues from my boots. The tendon on the outside of my ankles has become inflamed from the way the boots rub on my ankles and where my weight falls when I lean in turns. My ankles develop sore spots for 4-5 days after each skate session, so I'm taking some time off of these skates in hopes I can recover and haven't done any serious damage.

These skates were supposed to be a cure-all for my odd foot problems, now I'm noticing they have more issues, just new ones in different spots.

  6. Don't be asinine. The analogies are relevant. The skates don't meet the quality standard of "New without defects." You, the consumer, have a right to know that the standard was not met despite my disposition: The glue seepage doesn't bother me enough to warrant a return. However, as a consumer (satisfied or not), I feel obligated to notify potential consumers, who are thinking about buying the skates, that in my experience and in my pictures I've provided above, the quality control is a bit lacking (especially for a high-end, expensive product).

Whether or not these defects will affect the durability of the boot, only time will tell. But... there is an expectation and industry standard... As a consumer buying a brand new product, you expect it to be free of manufacturing mistakes; else, the product will be considered defective.

Asinine? Me? The very definition of asinine is posting complaints to a forum before the manufacturer has a chance to even respond.

I went through something similar with my skates but at least I had the tact to let Scott address the issues before I got all butthurt on the internet.

  7. Or, you could e-mail Scott and ask him if this will become an issue/how he will fix it rather than making ridiculous analogies about it on a forum full of people who can't actually do anything about it.

Ask Scott what kind of solvent should be used to clean up the glue. I guarantee he'll have a satisfactory answer for you.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say for the beer leaguers on this board, the skates will NOT come unglued, will NOT fall apart, and will NOT spontaneously combust as some of you fear.
