I have waited a long time for these and then they finally came yesterday :DCustom Flexlite 4.0
Once again a big thanks to Darkstar50 for the time, service and advice. ;)
Glad you like the skates. Thanks for hanging in there. These skates took 6 weeks to go from USA to Denmark via USPS Airmail and get through customs!! I still find that hard to believe in 2010 but the skates were worth the wait. Thanks.

This is happening right now. A guy just walked in with 2 pair of ONE95 skates that his girlfriend bought him online. He wants us to fit him and tell him which size is the proper fit! Then we will bake and sharpen for $50, our usual fee for skates bought online. What a set of cajones!Don't get me wrong, I am a huge supporter of local business. BUT... The guys girlfriend bought him the skates on line, all he did was come to you to be fitted and for your help. Someone had to recommend him to you, don't you think? What you wrote puts out the vibe that you hosed him for that. Two pair of One95's cost some serious coin, why not help him out, charge your going rate for the service, and set up future sales? Relationships have to start somewhere..
Sorry if you misunderstood my post. We charge $35/bake and $15/first time sharpen on skates bought elsewhere. We charged him our standard fees. I have no problem with online sites. They will be around forever. I just get a kick out of what I see occur on a daily basis. I am glad you are a supporter of local business. It is important. If you want to have some fun, offer to work in the LHS for a day or two. I'm sure you might have a few stories of your own to share. Also Vakar and I have shops in metro NYC. We deal with typical NYC attitude 24/7. We need a laugh now and then to keep going. Keep supporting your LHS. Remember, we have the bake oven!!!!!

Neither size fit perfectly. I told him to keep both pair.

The weekends get very busy in the Pro Shop with 4 rinks and lots of travel hockey. There are a lot of parents in from other rinks and organizations but this was a first on Sunday. I was walking up to the front counter and registers when I see a hockey mom behind a register in front of the computer. I come around the counter and she has her Flip Shot video camera plugged into the USB port! Although it was obvious, I asked her what she was doing. "Oh, I'm just trying to recharge my video camera." "I'm sorry but you cannot do that here. Please take it out immediately. Thank you." Of course, I get the look of "why can't I do this?" Before she asks I just say, "I'm sorry but my bosses would get really upset with me if they saw you doing this." Some people will just try anything anywhere anytime and not give a hoot about the consequences for someone else. Amazing.

We have a glass top display case at the front counter. It amazes me when moms hold their kids and then put them down on top of the glass case. "Could you please keep your child off the glass top case?" Some people just should not A. Have kids. B. Be parents Oh well, can't change that once it's happened.

When it's backed up for sharpening on the weekends and I get that same idiot you got, I like to mention that getting your skates sharpened is like buying coffee at Dunkin Donuts or Tim Horton's, get on the line!

My pet peeve is when they come in all ready to raise a ruckus and start on their tirade. Fine, I'll listen because I want to know exactly what the problem is. They finally catch a breathe, and I start my reply on what can be done or the normal protocol. Now comes the pet peeve: when the customer interupts me speaking and cuts me off mid sentence. Right then I say, "Ok I listened to you speak and finish. Now, you are going to give me the same courtesy or this conversation is over. I didn't cut you off in the middle of speaking. Please do not do it to me." Then we either carry on or we don't. It stops them 100% of the time.

I just never bother to untie them. It is not difficult to sharpen skates tied together.

A customer's lucky day: I brought down an X:50 skate for fitting just now. Opened the box, tissue paper never touched, viola!, pulled out an X:60! The skates fit and I'm selling them for the X:50 price since they are in my inventory as such. "Such a deal!!"

If you need a wider cut shin pad, like RBK, these will be perfect for you. It is good to see a choice for those guys in need.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't looking to trash Warrior, just trying to get some feedback on what others feel about the brand in their areas. hey, if warrior is selling great for you, good!! I'd rather you move inventory, make margins and most importantly, keep your customers happy!! Isn't that the name of the game?
-
Do I want to hear from parents in a few months how that Warrior gear they have in all white now looks like crap due to the white showing all the sweat and grime? That's a trick question, you wouldn't sell them anything that wasn't from Bauer.
I guess that's the difference. The Bauer product sells!
But to get back on topic. Do guys think Warrior is losing momentum, gaining momentum, or just staying about the same with their OPS and gear?

Also, white as a dominant color in protective equipment is a risk as it tends to wear sweat stains and grime a bit too quickly. You can't be f**king serious! JOFA RULED protective for how many years with primarily white protective?!?! I'm shocked DS!
Alas, The Chad and I agree on something...LOL
Yea, Jofa rules in the NHL locker rooms. Do they rule at retail? No. Does white still wear sweat stains and grime making your $125 shoulder pad look like crap? Yes. Jofa long ago established their equipment on protection values. They could cover their protective in pink and NHLers would still wear it. This is Year 2 for Warrior hockey protective. White is a risk when you still trying to establish your brand in protective. My thinking is different. I am looking at the gear from the position of a LHS equipment buyer. Do I want to hear from parents in a few months how that Warrior gear they have in all white now looks like crap due to the white showing all the sweat and grime? No.

Some times I think their stick graphics get a bit too overdone for the consumer. Also, white as a dominant color in protective equipment is a risk as it tends to wear sweat stains and grime a bit too quickly.

The fit on both the X:60 Pro and X:60 is tapered. The differences between the two gloves are as follows: Protection- X:60 Pro Inserts: Poly, X:60 Inserts: Vent Armor Composite, X:60 Pro Shell: Nylon Mesh + Cable Mesh, X:60 Shell: Synthetic Leather + Cable Mesh. Fit/Mobility- X:60 Pro Palm: Dual Layered Digital Nash Palm, X:60 Palm: Techniflex Digital Nash Palm w/Absorb Pad, X:60 Pro Cuff: contoured, segmented, X:60 Cuff: Free Flex Cuff, X:60 Pro Liner: Termo Max +, X:60 Liner: Thermo core +.

No returns on special order items or sale items. Otherwise, return accepted with receipt in original packaging and NOT USED, of course. Yes, I do have to mention that to our customers. However, a re-stocking fee sounds like a hose job.

Speaking of phone calls: with everyone getting skates for Christmas, the common phone call now, "If I bring in skates now to be sharpened, how long will it take?" "Well, it takes about 10 minutes. There is no line now but that could change in 5 minutes. You would have to wait for the skates ahead of you." "Really?" "Yes, it's kind of like Dunkin Donuts. If there is a line, you have to get on it." "Oh.", as you hear the sigh and disbelief in their voice that they will have to wait a while to get skates sharpened that they bought at Sports Authority. BTW, over the week-end the wait to sharpen was over an hour.

TO flatheads and washers are gold. The rest of the line has standard copper.

I want to start that I haven't seen the skate or anythingNow, what I really don't like about the new line, well first the price of the top of the line in my opinion is to high, but they got new tech in them so I'll give them that.So you don't accept it, but then you do?
Second would be that they did not incorporate any new tech in the One100, it's the one95 with a different tongue and color scheme and that won't justify the price when they'll come out.Except that it is essentially the same technology, with updated styling FOR A LOWER PRICE.
Another thing, the ONE80 which should be a ONE75 doesn't have the texalium outsole, just a full composite, whatever that is.The ONE75 was supposed to be a ONE90 replacement but these so called replacements have always been a little speced down to reach a slightly lower price point. And then you seem to be complaining about something, which you don't know what it is?
And then in wrapping up you quote
think the TotalONE is going to change the hockey skate foreverSo you're claiming to have a skate which is "going to change the hockey skate forever" but complain that it sets a new bench mark in pricing. How do you expect it to be any other way?
Hope you can help me to reconcile all of the contradictions in this post to save me from thinking JR should have suggested a deletion not a repost in the correct thread.
Thanks for breaking down that post because it did leave my head spinning.

Heard this today for the first time ever; "Do I get the military discount?" Don't get me wrong, I appreciate everything these people do but I had never heard that one ever.

In the Zetterberg pic on the back cover, the Stanley Cup Finals sticker is on his helmet but the preseason lettering is on his back. Weird...The EQ5 gloves do look really good, but I'm more interested in the E-Pros. Have any improvements been made (or at least attempted)?
Uhm, no.
will def be checking out the EQ line especially the gloves. The S-19 protective looks interesting also.you'll love the shin guard then, probably. wrap around lock on the back gives you alot more protection then before, and less slippage from what ive been told.
basically the new stealth protective line is a huge improvement over the previous models. easton finally is catching up in almost all areas, and still excels in sticks.
Easton OPS still have great feel but no sex appeal on the rack. I'm glad they gave the ST a new look but it really needed a new name. The S19/S17 is also a tough sell. If you had a problem with your S17 snapping, you're not as likely to buy that S19. Easton does make great OPS. I just think they need to market them in a better way. They need some new model names and some dynamite graphics that catch your eyes when stacked up against a wall of OPS in the shop. Bauer OPS are easily outselling Easton in my shop. Props to Chadd, marketing can work when it is done right.

No problem. I'll dig my Cooper SK20 helmet out as soon as possible. It's a classic.
