  1. Chadd, I had a guy come back with an X:60 girdle last week. "OH, I wore it around the house and it feels too high on me above the waist." "ok, try on the next smallest size." While he is doing that I look inside the girdle on the sewn-in tag where I place our price/sku sticker. I can tell by looking at the ink that the pants were worn to play in. His sweat stain has faded the ink! Do I say anything? No, I'm not going to call him out but jeez, buddy don't lie to me. I hate that part of the bs more than anything. I'm going totally postal on my last day in this business!!

  2. having lunch today and a tooth falls out! Was a root canal job with the post about 3/8" in it. Nice, now I have to get this fixed = $. Play hockey tonight and tweak my groin in first 15 minutes, skate next 45 minutes just trying not to make it worse. Get home to answer a family email that makes everything even worse. some day I will get a tat that reads FTS : Fuck This Shit.

  3. Made the two hour trip today to see DarkStar50 at the Ice House Pro Shop, and it was extremely worthwhile. He measured me and we tried on a few pairs of X:60s, and ultimately determined retail wasn't going to do the trick. The best part was going through the Bauer custom order form in tandem, picking and choosing which options were most sensible, I think one of the cruelest parts of my hockey career will be waiting for these skates to arrive. All in all, couldn't think of a more appropriate and beneficial situation to knowingly meet my first MSH'er face-to-face.

EDIT: Also, as a member here, I wouldn't be able to live with myself making a two hour trip to a pro shop and returning empty handed, so I picked up a pair of the rink's travel team's MTO Bauer Pro 4 Rolls.

Thanks for the shout out. I have the answers from Bauer(Custom Department got back to me late today) for our questions and will be in touch tomorrow. That was a good pick up on the 4 Rolls! MTO colors are always good to have in your collection.

My personal sweet spot is I skated today for the first time since August 1. August was a rough month with no chance to skate. It was a killer not to hit the ice. I just goofed around on the ice for 35 minutes shooting at a mini-net. Missed that sucker about 95% of the time!

  4. Hockey Dad in my building who also coaches a travel team here( = paycheck, not that he needs it since he drives a Land Rover) has me do a quick sizing on ONE100s last week on his bantam kid. Doesn't buy the skate, just tries them on. His kid is in the shop tonight so I call out the kid, "did you get the skates?" "Yeah, we got them at XYZ shop." the vent: next time your kid needs a rush sharpening, take them back to XYZ shop, 45 minutes down the road. No sale, sorry, no service.

  5. I already play in a non-contact league.

the only thing you have to give up is beer league hockey. Find a good bunch of guys doing open hockey, let them know where you're coming from with the shoulder(i.e. "Get near me to put the body on me and I will fuck you up so badly you will be sorry you ever bought skates."), and then have some fun with hockey. Beer league hockey is always one shift away from a major catastrophe, intentional or not. After not skating for 15 months due to my back a long, long time ago, I came back to my pick-up group(I had collected the money for 7 years before I couldn't play) with the rules that don't screw with me due to my back or I will kill you. Everybody understood and I wasn't going to stop playing. You don't have to either.

  6. My back has been a wreck since last Saturday. Slept on the floor last 3 nights and will do it again tonight. Driving is a bitch because sitting is what tightens it up. I went through this a long time ago. This time I'm 20 years older than the first time. As we say in the locker room, getting old sucks.

  7. Question for SubliTwill or anyone in the know...is there any possibility that Eagle catalogs the customs they've done for the public? And if so, I wonder how far back they'd go. I guess what makes it even more tricky is the sale to Vaughn, and if any of the old files would have been transferred. Anyway, reason I ask is that I'd like to get another pair of a custom glove I did with them about 2 years ago, and was curious if they still had the file/dies/notes.

Go back to the LHS that ordered the gloves. They should have the original invoice from Eagle and the original purchase order with the specs on file at the LHS. That is how I do it at my shop. All it takes is a phone call once all that info is in hand.
