  1. We took him to the Bauer store and had the 3D scan done over the weekend, while the skates are not custom they are the ones that they would sell him off the shelf.
  2. Thanks already switched the lace pattern as well.
  3. replacement tounges advice - the kid has lace bite on fairly new skates (6 months old), tried all the gel pads and inserts and switched out the laces to non-waxed is the next thing to try is new thicker tounges?
  4. We've had the holders and triggers checked on two separate occasions. Once at the Bauer store. 3 blades broke in the left skate and two in the right.
  5. Update - the kid broke his 5th LS4 since August yesterday. I have pictures of 4/5 and they all broke in different spots. The Tydans are on the way.
  6. The skates are for a bantam. Am i correct that the Bauer custom is more about configuring the skate? Are the sizes standard or are they creating a custom last of the foot from the 3D scan?
  7. Thanks. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is but he's never had skates as low as a 180 so I'm not sure now is the time.
  8. Time for new skates. Trying to discern the meaningful difference between the 2S and the 2S pro. Currently in MX3's. Always been in either a 190 or 1S level of skate. Goes up 1/2 size at a time so he's not in them for very long. He doesn't like/use the speed plates so are the blades the meaningful difference? We also considered the custom program but not sure what that would add?
  9. The holder's alignment has been checked. The difficulty with the Steps was on an earlier pair of skates.
  10. Had Steps in the past and they were just too difficult to get in and out. Ease of installation is important as the kid is off on his own.
  11. Thanks for all the information, in the end, we decided to get one more set of the LS4s and hope they get the boy through to the next pair of skates. He rotates 3 sets so it was cheaper to just get an additional set of the LS4s and hope we have better luck. We won't get LS4s again. Still not 100% sure what offers the additional height coupled with easy blade removal.
  12. One was in the left skate the other in the right so I don't think it's a bad holder. One was a passed puck the other he has no idea. The kid's away from home so I need it to be easy to put in.
  13. I am not. One blade that broke was original to the skates purchased in June 2018 at Pro Hockey Life. The other set where purchased in August 2018 from a shop in New England that is very particular.
  14. The blades are always profiled so not an issue.
  15. Thanks much. Size is 254. I need to do some research on Massive, Byonic and Flare.
  16. Looking to stay with the taller blade. He boots out on the shorter ones.
  17. My kid has busted two LS4 blades in a week. One in each skate. He doesn't want Step Steel as he has had them in the past and found it too difficult to get in and out of the standard holders. What would be less likely to break LS5 or Tydan blades?
  18. Can anyone speak to the pitch on the Super Tacks? Are they forward pithed like a Vapor or more upright like a Nexus or Supreme? Please forgive the Bauer references.
