Had an issue with some local politics over the years.  Was on the verge of quitting the local board.  Things were in a spiral and I was spending all my time butting heads and sending nasty emails.

Decided to put my head down and outplan, outwork, out-network, and build a better team of planners and coaches.

It's happening.  Got great buy-in from our local coaching pool, both local associations, and just met with the team managers last night.

Going to be an awesome season for our kids.

    GREAT ATTITUDE, great news!

I'm not sure I'd want to leave my gear in the locker room. I can't imagine it'd be dry before the next game. Plus how would you wash your under-stuff?

No problem with it getting dry.

i laughed with the wash...  I don't wash my chit after every skate anyway, hell, if it gets a wash every 3-4 skates, doing well.

  3. So I've said it before, but I cannot express to you cats the enjoyment I get from my Sunday skate with the boy.  If you are lucky enough to get the opportunity to compete(I use that word loosely) with your kid, you're winning.  I look forward to it every week, it's awesome, pre skate lockerroom, skate, post game lockerroom(I have beers, no go for him)...,it's something words cannot grasp.  I'm a fortunate dad.  I hope I can do this with my daughter at some point as well.

  4. Played 2 hours of drop in this morning with my son.  Great way to start Fathers Day!  We assisted each other on goals(not often I score, it's a pretty fast skate for me) & I had another that was probably the best I've had at this skate(playing about a year with these guys).

Added bonus, the Little Man picked up the tab!

Spent the previous 2 days at a friends cabin and on the lake(unfortunatly, first time I had the boat out this year) wake boarding, surfing, drinking around the campfire.  Been a fine weekend.

    Happy Fathers Day, boys!

So they ended up suspending the guy that broke my ankle for two games. That's it. Absolutely ridiculous.

Did you read the refs report?  I'd ask for it.  It would be interesting to see what they wrote down.

Add, if you didn't and the league is USA Hockey sanctioned, make sure you double up with their insurance.

  6. Tonight was the start of the Middle School Summer Hockey League.  With the success of the HS League, they started a MS league a few years ago.  Teams affiliate with the HS in their MS district.  Eligible kids are going into 6th-7th-8th grade.

It it was our first ever skate with these kids(daughter is going into 6th next year).  Lost by a goal, but proud of my pup, who netted one, had a few other opportunities and late in the 1 goal game was put out on the PP line for the last 1:30 or so.

    I don't get it.

He referenced a television show that was around about 10 years ago and though around like 7 years, I never considered it popular.

Side note, how I took his comment was that it's not the league, but the player.  There are players that are going to do questionable stuff at every level & continue do it, regardless of the level they are in.

I'll add that I think a lot of this stuff is related to who runs the league.

In my experience, Rookie League is the least chippy of any of the leagues we have here. In fact, I'm not even sure it's close.  I'm also under the impression that the guy that runs both the Rookie and D4 League here doesn't put up with much.  That is not limited to boorish behavior(unruly physical play, verbal abuse of the refs ect), but the player that appears to be playing on a team/league far below their ability level and making that very clear on the ice.

Younger daughter went from the MT Player Development Camp to the Northern Plains District Player Development Camp in Grand Forks, ND last weekend, and just got the invite today to attend the Multi-District Player Development Camp in July at Kent State in Ohio.

I'm scared. To me she's still just a little kid with a huge heart and a messy room.
(Pic from the ND camp - she's in the #14 blue jersey with the red helmet---my tall ugly ass is on the far right)

Congrats to her and to you, good stuff!

  9. Dental pain/issues are no friend.

I have had a pretty good run, but for no rhyme or reason, I've been crushed the past 8 days.  Debilitating pain, like laying in bed wanting to pull my tooth with pliers.  WTF, I was just in for my 6 M checkup & given clean bill of health.  BOOM, Antibotics and IBU(dumped me a bunch of junk, I'm good with IBU) have moved me to today.

That said, got my first needed dose of Antibotics.  Jinxed myself like 2 weeks ago saying, I'm 46 and never had to take an antibiotic.  (Apparently my descent into decrepitude is jumping). Strange, my pain is more with infection pressure, than actual tooth pain now.

Always awesome pics!  Is she wearing Jet Speeds? I just ordered a pair, haven't skated CCM since 1981 so want to give them a try again. Your Pics are always great and she looks like she more than holds her own out there. We have a 5 foot tall Swedish Girl who played NCAA Women's Division I playing over here in Qatar and is  quite a  hockey player.

    JetSpeed 290's.

    Thanks!

  11. ^^^ That's her deal.  She's actually a 10U('05), tapes her own stick(too often for my liking, starting to get funky with her multicolor junk) for about year, picks her laces and been tying her skates for 3 years....  A different cat for sure, but a player, I let her do what she wants, it's her World....I just pay for it.

You're right though & she's targeted regularly. Though, in reality, that would be happening regardless.
