In this video, blue 19 (which I guess is you) is hanging out way too far ahead of the play. From 0:03 to 0:21, you are doing circles all around the neutral zone. You are making it hard for your team mates to head man it to you because you are too far away. From a puck carrier's perspective in their own zone, they have to pass it up through a lot of traffic and that gives the opposing team's defensemen a lot of time to read a pass going to you because of the distance. You are forcing your defenseman (or center) to bank it up the sides of the boards hard or make a very hard pass up the middle which can turn into an icing if you miss the pass. The three zone passes you see in the NHL are pretty rare. Most wingers will hang out in their zone when breaking out. Depending on skill level of the puck carrier, they might pass it up to you when you are hanging out between the center line and your blue line. But if that doesn't materialize, don't keep on going farther up. Skate back down into your zone and make yourself open for a pass.

At 0:49, not sure why white 00 didn't get a penalty call. You had not made contact with the puck and were hit from behind.

Thank you, that makes sense. I'm a D but sometimes play forward. I do struggle with the positioning.

Always awesome to see this thread pop back up here and there.  What a great thread this has and will be.

Great work and progression as always Trey!  Your progress and dedication has been nothing short of incredible.  Keep it up!

To nitpick, since I'm sure you'll take the advice in stride and improve on it in the next video you post, rotate that top hand more when stick handling.  It'll allow you to be smoother with the puck.  You'll know you're doing it enough when the stick handling becomes much quieter.

Also, ever think about going to a hollow with a little more bite, maybe 1"? (I think you said you're doing 1 1/4" in your bio video). I think it would help you hold your inside edges on your turns a bit more, allowing you to make even sharper turns.

But again, that's nitpicking.  You're doing great.  Keep it up!

I know I need to work on the top hand rotation. Thanks so much; I need consistent reminders.

Yes, I was actually planning that. I'm going to sharpen this week and try a 1" or possibly 7/8"

I was so excited to see this thread pop up!

Damn, probably better on one leg than I am at this point!  Once you're comfortable with it, see if you can keep the planted leg's knee bent a little more, so you can pump and control more with that leg than your lifted leg.  Awesome that you're working on these finer skills.

Outside edge stops look incredibly smooth and fluid.  Your step over following it is nice and smooth.

Hope you're doing well and please keep posting updates! Six years into this venture how do you feel about it?  Are you still loving it?

Sorry I missed this! Yes, I still love it! The 8 month forced layoff due to covid was just awful.

  4. I have a pair of C width pro stock Bauer Vapor APX2s. There is a considerable deal of negative space between the med arch and med met which causes pain. I'm looking for a pair of thick, highly malleable insoles (don't have to be hockey specific) which would decrease the negative space and alleviate the pain.
