Bauer vs Mako pitch I've used Mako skates for essentially the duration of my hockey career. As most know, these have a very aggressive forward pitch. I recently tried a pair of Bauers (2X model) and found I much prefer the less aggressive pitch. I felt far more stable turning, gliding, striding and even puck control. There's one caveat: I'm significantly faster on the Makos. Easton advertised them as scientifically faster than all other skates, and in my anecdotal experience they weren't lying. So, should I sacrifice speed in exchange for control and stability or stick to the Makos?

Tried shims and hated them. Shorter steel is where its at for me.

I have mismatched length legs so I use a shorter steel on my longer leg for equilibrium. Searching for a short steel for my FT4s.

He was gracious with his time and knowledge when I started playing hockey and was essentially clueless. Very saddened to hear of his passing.

I'm 5'11.5" 145lbs and have difficulty finding breezers that fit. Can anyone recommend suspenders that will prevent my pants from failing down while skating? Failing that, I'm also interested in pants designed for thin skaters.

Yes, clothing. I live in Minneapolis so winter temperature is typically in the 32-0 range Fahrenheit range. I've only used refrigerated rinks but I'll look into picks if I ever venture onto a lake!

Any ideas on outdoor rink cold weather protection?

Unfortunately I lost mine, and their website is sold out of their Mako specific inserts. I checked ebay, but no luck. Anyone know where I might find some?
