I didn’t find any. The only thing I found that was helpful was to take blue painters tape, apply to area of skate that you want covered and trace it. Lift the tape off and put it on some cardboard and then cut it out. That becomes your template. Trace the template onto the kydex and use the rotary tool to make the initial cut.  Use a sanding bit to smooth out the edges then bake in the toaster oven 250F for about 4-5 mins. Take it out right away and shape it to the area on the skate you are covering. Should be obvious but wear heat resistant gloves.  I just used a pair I use for cooking they were fine. Double check the edges to see if they are smooth enough to your liking and then use double sided tape to affix. Good to go and you saved some dough!

The problem with this is you can't remove the kydex if you want to sell the skates!

@Amazinmets73 Looks great!  And something I'm totally guilty of and not even just on jump backs, is not shifting the weight to the inside leg and loading up for the first crossover.  For the most part you're nailing it, there are a few times where you're not putting as much weight or pressure to the inside leg on the jump back and you're having the outside leg, which is extended for the stop, do all or most of the work.

You're going such a great job with the smooth crossovers in the second video.  Nice and level, no bobbing.  Fantastic.

Seriously, keep up the great work.  Have you been playing in pick up or any game situations at this point?

Yes! Haven't played any league games since moving to Minnesota but I've played a lot of pick-up. Was playing in a league back in CT. Played with varying skill levels. Best player I've played with/against is currently in the AHL. His skills blew me away

God, I love this thread Amazin'.  You have really shown the MSH community what one can do when someone who clearly loves the game, put their heart and mind into it.  And to your credit and to the MSH communities' credit too, people have given you great advice and feedback, and you've just taken off with it...  kudos.

Thanks so much! So far as I'm concerned I'm just getting going 😉

  4. I have very uniquely shaped feet (extremely narrow, so narrow even C width are too wide.) As you would expect no stock skates fit me. I discovered several months ago that Dougie Hamilton has nearly the exact same foot shape. I've purchased two pairs of his skates; however they're over five years old and in shoddy condition.

Any chance one might no where to procure additional pairs?

    Hi Guys,

I am having a hard time finding right handed Drury's 80-85 flex and I am considering switching over to something more readily available. I have been using the Drury for years. Has anyone had any luck transitioning to another curve. I just bought a Trigger 2 p28 to try out. Any guidance would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Riggs

I just started using the Drury and love it. Planning to stockpile sticks. How does the P106 compare to the Drury?

  6. I'm looking for an area with inexpensive ice time and lots of it. I plan to spend a few months in said location working on my game. The best location I've found has been Vancouver: daily pick-up games and the Richmond Ice Centre holds weekday 6 hour stick & puck sessions. Unfortunately Vancouver is prohibitively expensive for a 2 month vacation.

Does anyone have other recommendations? Doesn't have to be N.A., Europe would be fine.

Easton were a bit different, their intermediate stick length was close to their senior stick length. Today most intermediates are 57" but it depends on the manufacturer and model, top end sticks often come in 2 or 3 different lengths depending on flex and offerings. Whilst I haven't found a website dedicated to comparing stick lengths you can find the lengths on most online retailer sites, for example Ice Warehouse lists the stick lengths.

But this isn't to say your stick is useless, buy a butt extender. The A&R are dirt cheap at $2.99 but you may need some glue to get them to stay in. Or you can buy a Bauer one for $14.99 (IW prices). Your choice if you want a wooden end (I find it helps to dampen the vibration in the stick and makes the blade feel slightly less heavy) or a composite which is pretty neutral in how it changes the feel of the stick.

Do you need a specific extender for an intermediate shaft?

  8. I used to play with an old P91A curve. I loved the curve and still have the stick but I recently drastically reduced my stick flex and a 100flex just won't do. I searched for lower flex P91As but it appears the curve is no longer in production. Does anyone have any leads on similar curves? A square toe would be a bonus!

  9. I've been using uncut Easton intermediate sticks. I recently purchased a new Bauer intermediate and upon delivery discovered it was several inches shorter than my Eastons, rendering it unsuitable for use.

So, obviously there is no industry standard stick length. Is there a chart which lists the varying length of sticks  between manufacturer's?

I just found out about your thread. This is amazing seeing your progress and your continued enthusiasm over 3 years! You probably already know this, but the YouTube channel iTrainHockey has a great skater whose skating you can practice replicating. Are you playing in a league now or just sticking to drop-in/open hockey?

    Thanks so much!

Yes, I know Sean. Great coach!

Subbing for a C league squad; probably will play full-time next season. Hoping to get to B league within a year

They aren't sold in predetermined sizes; we cut them to order and will need the skates to do so.

But it is extremely important to find out what the discrepancy actually is.

It's unlikely I'll be able to afford an orthopedic evaluation; How imprecise is a self-measurement likely to be?
