  1. Seems like an awful lot of extra work...with little to no added benefit, other than the bling factor.

Skated on the Step steel yesterday, and yes they are a bit higher. Had to work a little harder due to the extra weight vs the Fusion steel. I could definitely feel the difference in weight...not significant...but noticeable. The advantage was that the edges were near perfect after a 2 hour intense pickup. Nicks and chips plagued my fusion steel and LS2 steel, thus the decision to switch to a better quality steel to reduce the frequency of sharpening. Over the last couple months I was averaging only 5-6 sessions, with edges so jacked up I had to ship them for another 90/50 treatment.

  2. New hockey room. Split the new office in half for heating/cooling purposes. Second half now my new hockey room.

  3. They don't make your skates from a foot mold...but with the tracings and the measurements they certainly do the best job I have ever seen. My TOs are the best fit I have ever had by a mile. The biggest difference was their attention to the volume in the upper ankle - an area I have struggled with for proper fit. I was so tired of getting a great fit in the front and mid sections...to only have to crank on the laces to get a good ankle wrap on my skinny ankles. This leads to a better forward flex for me...because I don't have the quarters wrapping toward the front of my leg...and with my personal preference of a stiff boot it only restricted that flex. After switching from the reflex tongue to the Graf tongue...the proper upper measurement has been the single biggest affect in performance.

  4. Can't exactly ice 'em down, either. Hope you're doing a little better!

Thanks man. Iced them for two days...helped a bit. Left nut still black and blue...shit still hurts.

Looked into the no-needle option, but there were no doctors remotely close to me, and traditional therapy seems to be the only one accepted by health insurance. I hope for future males looking towards permanent contraception that this changes and the no-needle capability becomes more widely accepted. I can deal with the black and blue...and the soreness. The traumatic memories of the needles, however, will linger for a long time. That should be outlawed as a form of torture.

  5. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise: a vasectomy hurts like you wouldn't believe. I'm glad it's over. I can't describe what it's like to take a needle in each nut.

Women will say "if we can bear children, you can deal with a needle". Fuck that. They have no idea how sensitive our nads are...watch a 2 year old tap a dad in the nuts with a plastic bat on America's Funniest Home Videos and see him drop to the floor like a 6 month old in the fetal position...now imagine having to take a needle in one nut...

...then know another one is coming.

8 hours later and my left nut is at least 2x its normal size. I have been sitting on an ice pack all day, and taking Codiene every 4 hours...guess that's a perk...a silver lining to one hell of a morning after Thanksgiving. Not saying that I am not glad I did it...no need to worry about having more babies...but if you decide to do it and you have the option...I vote sleepy time anesthesia. The memory of the needle makes me shiver. I have a very high tolerance for pain. Don't put yourself through that torture.

Glad I have this place to rant...cause moving hurts like you wouldn't fuq'n believe.

  6. I went the 3/8" vamping on my TOs...sure glad I did. Perfect sizing with measurements. Didn't know the new toecap in the TO was a bit taller than in the past. Compensate the height there with foam under my superfeet yellows. Other than that the boot was perfect out of the box...never had to bake them. 5 months of play and still worth every penny...and look as good as new.

  7. Not only that...but you have to see the new St Louis Blues banner in STL. I was there last week...going over the bridge...and there is a HUGE banner with the young guns. Great to see both he and the organization are sticking it out there. BB's house of Blues was the best man....nothing like a live blues band...it was an amazing night. I will plan on going to Scott AFB more often this year.

  8. That someone just happens to be me haha.

Nice! I used to be a big ol school grip liner fiend myself, but the new hydrophobic grip liner they are using in the TOs dry MUCH faster and are as good as the older grip liner with preventing slippage. My skates are usually dry in an hour, after using a small towel to dry the inside of the toecap. St Jerome turnaround was 3 weeks for my two pair...I am still amazed at how fast they showed up.

Did you get the added minicel foam? The little extra padding goes a long way with comfort. I did go with the reflex tongue, and I like it...but time will tell if I decide to modify mine with the same traditional tongue. Been using mine for almost two months...fit like a glove after the first two skates and I never had to bake them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy mine. Plan on putting new pics after two months in the long term review.

  9. So what it comes down to is 100/50 is no deeper than 90/50 its just a different bite angle. Your freind is going with less bite, the degree on a 90/50 is less than on a 100/50. His speed will remain the same however he will not have as much agility as if he were on the 100/50.

I see the point. It is not about depth. the 90/50 and the 100/50 are equal in terms of depth....just the length of the flat bottom is modified. In testing, you have seen no variance in the friction coefficient of having a longer blade angle vs a shorter blade angle? There has to be some, but because it is so minor it must be marginal at worst. The physics of this is the most interesting aspect to me. Keep up the good work...this is a true case of how trig and calculus is practically applied.

  10. Actually that would not make any difference. The 90/50 has the same glide as the 100/50. The 90/50 has less bite angle and the 100/50 has more, all that would be affected is the transition and stability in the corners. The 100/50 while maintaing speed gives more bite which some players feel is an advantage for agility.

Wait...I thought it would. He complained about the inability to stop. Would that be affected with a ROH with more bite? Why would he want to go to a deeper bite if the bite angle affects stopping? His issue was not about glide...it was about difficulties stopping. You know your stuff for sure...just looking for clarification of why a deeper bite would be advantageous vs working towards less bite. I was always under the impression with a traditional ROH that the goal was to graduate to a shallower hollow. Is this different with the FBV?
