  1. Go with a mitsubishi Galant. Good power for the price, pretty nice cars.

Except for that transmission and all of Mistu's terrible problems.

Mitsu's have a infamous reputation of a nifty leak in the seal between the transmission and engine. It leads to a loss of transmission fluid.....leading to blown transmissions. Mitsubishi ball joints are garbage as well. I know 2 Galant owners (my fiancee, and a friend) who have had issues with poor ball joints, and my '97 Avenger (Dodge body, Mitsubishi guts) had 2 seperate major ball joint separations... there was a major recall, all Chrysler did was a "5 point inspection"... I was driving home and my whole driver's side front tire ripped apart, tore off the wheel well and slammed the car nose down.

I got over $3k in work done for free...

  2. While I think these days, people do get ink for all of the wrong reasons... 90% of the time, they'll get something and grow to regret it (ie: tribal bands, names of ex- significants, etc), I think it's a great start that your tattoo already has some form of significance. I was in midst of my apprenticeship at a tattoo/piercing parlor when corporate America came knocking... haha. I failed miserably as a tattoo artist, because I was brutally frank with people who came in wanting Mickey Mouse tattoos, or 19 yr old kids ready to put their girlfriends names on their arm..The birth of a first born child is obviously a monumental point in a man's life.

Have you looked into different variances of Celtic shields? A basic shield knot is a symbol of protection, and warding. I've seen thousands of variants from Norse shields, to simple or intricate Celtic shields. You can easily avoid the little guy being embarrassed someday by your tattoo- while your tattoo itself may not spell out his name, it can still certainly symbolize a time in your life. You'll remember it, especially if it's your first. Consider something of multiple meanings- something that could pay homage to your bloodlines, past as well as present and future(I've no idea of your ethnicity, so I can't offer up suggestions...).

my dad calls him LJ and I feel it is kind of disrespectful.

I totally feel you on this one... My name is Anthony Jason, while some close friends and family call me Tony... I cannot stomach people calling me "TJ", or "AJ".

  3. t1tan,

I just used my one90 elbows and shins for the first time tonight. Love them. You don't even need clear tape for the shins they strap down so nicely and they are both veryy comfortable.

thank you for the feedback.. I saw the shins, and thought to myself "Whoa, those look really comfy".

  4. As soon as i take a picture of my Black and red vent 8k you will see how much better it is then the tap job that the guy did. Mine is paint with 2 coats of clear coat looks exactly like the CHL ones. Its a beauty.

That wasn't exactly the most positive response to someone showing off their gear.

  5. I notice quite a few of you have multiple pairs of skates. What's the reasoning behind that?

I skate barefoot... and I play at least Saturday night/Sunday night. I noticed it's never enough time for them to dry, and there's nothing worse than putting a bare foot into clammy, squishy skates. I've also ended up with a nice infection on one of my toenails before... so I rotate skates in between drying periods.

  6. I'm bored this morning.. and I've updated some stuff since my initial post... I passed my old stuff onto some of the newer guys in my pickup hour. I figure I get a little coin for it, and it keeps the guys coming.... turnout = good.

Helmet: Mission Intake w/ an Oakley straight cut pro this time. (I gave the ITech to my brother.) I picked it up on sale at my local Sports Authority for $21...hope this one dosen't spiderweb like my 1st Oakley

    Shoulder Pads: Sherwood 5030 Tradition....

    Elbows: Mission Fuel 85's...

Pants: CCM Pro girdle, with black Tackla shells... I liked the girdle a lot more than the standard pants.. again, I guess I like the tight stuff. The protection on this thing rocks.

shins: Mission Fuel 85... I have this weird thing where my shins, and elbows always match... odd

skates: RBK 9K Pump... and who knows what pair I'll end up in at the end of this week.

Sticks: Man, did I do a good job of get rid of some of these... again, the guys in my pick up hour love me, especially the lefties. Right now I'm down to...

-RBK 7K Sickick.... stiff flex, Phaneuf pattern.

    -Sherwood RM9, stiff... Bouchard pattern

-Warrior Dolomite... 120 fx, Fedorov pattern

....and I changed the XD blade from my Sherwood shaft to the Bouchard pattern as well. I also receiently added a Shock Doctor bag, and blower...

  7. All mirrored visors do is make you a target. In my junior league anybody who wears them gets tormented to hell, there is only one person who can pull it off and his name is Alexander Ovechkin. Unless you want to be made fun of or cheap shot, I would say go with the clear, that Itech one is nice posted above

the hour before my pickup hour... like 6 dudes wearing mirrored visors.. my brother was like "what is this, a douche convention??". Our rec league just made them illegal..

  8. Nah, Homey just gets played.

I got sick of it... the last time someone plopped paperwork while I was eating at my desk, I wiped my face with it, and dropped it in my trash can.

needless to say, my boss wasn't pleased... but he addressed the issue that if reps are on their break at their desk, use their in-box, not their lunch

  9. Product: Mission Intake Large Helmet

I had a $45 store credit at a local Play It Again Sports, and they were gushing about the Mission Intake.... the store was closing, and offered an additional 20% off everything in the store to cut moving costs... they JUST got the Intake in, so their loss was my gain.

    FIT: 10/10

Coming from a Bauer 4000 helmet, the "Cellflex" foam did everything but flex. I felt real clunky. The adjustments on the Intake were really simple. I have a bigger head, so it felt like the Intake conformed to my head, instead of just placing itself on top. The EPP foam, with gel-foam inserts are about 50 times more confortable than the foam in the Bauer 4000.

    PROTECTION: 10/10

I've only been playing ice hockey about a year, so I don't play with contact... just pickup, and drop-in sessions. I've only taken 1 or 2 diggers (since I've gotten better on my skates) but one of them I took note of- I fell backward pretty hard, and the helmet stayed on my head, thanks to the fit- but I'm putting on the "Protection" summary instead, because the fit alone plays into the protection. The "Mission Head-Lock" is supposedly what keeps the lid on. When I went backward with my Bauer, it would slip right off my head- making for some scary encounters..

    WEIGHT: 10/10

I would have to say there isn't too noticeable difference in weight... I still wear my Bauer every so often and the major difference in feel is the fit, as opposed to the weight. I can't take fromt he score over that.

    DURABILITY: 10/10

I've had this helmet for about 2 months, and no issues so far. However, I make it a point to put it out to dry after each skate, and I notice on the rare occasions I do forget it in the car- the gelfoam holds mosture like crazy... it will still be sobbing wet the next morning when I go out to bring it in. As it seems durable, if not taken care of properly, I can see the gel foam being an issue. Nothing a little T.L.C can't avoid.

    INTANGIBLES: 10/10

The ventilation on the Intake is amazing. You can feel the air channeled through the helmet as you're putting around and it does keep my head cooler. (I shave my head, so I feel a noticeable difference) It also keeps my visro pretty clear, as there's more space on the Intake than the Bauer.

    CONCLUSION: 10/10

As a beginner, I was just looking to try something new. My Bauer got smelly and dirty fast... however with the ventilation, and proper care by drying- the Mission Intake have been a better experience. It conforms to the head, and the Mission Head Lock keeps the lid intact in the even of a spill. The fit, and EPP foam are piece of mind enough in knowing you're safe out there.
